In addition, the University has limited capacity for medical students due to limited laboratory space as well as the approved hospitals where students are taken for practicals. For the last six (6) years, the laboratory capacity for all the medical courses has been very limited. ‘The University has made a huge investment to expand Anatomy Laboratories as well as fast track completion of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital. By September 2015, the University was expected to procure adequate teaching facilities in terms of the medical laboratories including the KU Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital. Every year the University receives over 1,000 applicants for different medical courses yet we only admit less than 25% of the qualified applicants for each of the three (3) medical courses currently being offered. Page 3 of 10 (viii) Given that KU is expanding the teaching facilities, we proposed that the number of students admitted in September 2015 be increased in all medical courses based on the above average laboratory capacities, (ix) The University did some survey on the fees changed for the medical courses in other Universities and their fees are as follows: (A) University of Nairobi a)MBchB ~ Kshs.475, 500/= Total Annual Fees b)Pharmacy —— Kshs.474, 500/= Total Annual Fees c) Nursing — Kshs.264,500/= Total Annual Fees (B) Moi University a) MBChB — Kshs.416,800/= Total Annual Fees b) Nursing — Kshs.216,800/= Total Annual Fees (C) J-KUA.T a)B.Sc (Nursing) — Kshs.225,000/= Total Annual Fees b)Pharmacy — Kshs.360,000/= Total Annual Fees c) MBChB. — Kshs.395,584/= Total Annual Fees (D) Kenya Methodist University a)B.Sc.
