Maneuver
http://www.neatorama.com/2007/03/28/

Debbie Parkhurst, 45, was home alone and choked on an

apple. The apple was lodged pretty tightly she couldnt
breathe. She said she then began beating her chest. This
attracted her dog Tobys attention. Toby put his front paws
on her shoulders. He pushed her on to the ground. Then
Toby jumped up and down on her chest. This jumping
helped to dislodge the apple from Debbies windpipe.

As soon as I started breathing, he stopped. He began

licking my face, as if to keep me from passing out, she
said.
The Chihuahua who saved a baby from a rattlesnake
Zoey is a Chihuahua. When a rattlesnake lunged at her
owners grandson, she was a real bulldog.

Booker West, aged one, was at his grandparents back yard.

He was splashing his hands in a birdbath. A snake slithered
1

up to the toddler. It rattled and went to bite the boy. Fivepound Zoey jumped in the way and took the bites.

She got in between Booker and the snake. Thats when I

heard her yelp, the boys grandfather said.

The dog needed treatment. For a time it seemed she might

not survive. Now she prances about.

These little bitty dogs, they just dont really get credit,
Bookers grandma said.

Pig saves its owner after a heart attack

In 1998, Jo Ann Altsman was on holiday (vacation) in the
woods in Pennsylvania, United States. She had a heart
attack.

She was alone apart from the family dog. The dog did
nothing but bark at Jo Ann. It tried to get help by breaking
a bedroom window of the mobile home.

Jo Ann lay on the floor yelling:

2

Somebody help me! Please help me! Call an ambulance!

Jo Ann had had a heart attack just 18 months earlier. She

was panic stricken.

Another member of the 'family' was at hand. LuLu is a

housebroken Vietnamese Pot-Bellied pig. She came to Jo
Ann's aid.

The pig belonged to Jo Anns daughter Jackie. Jackie did

not really want Lulu. The Altsmans soon grew to love LuLu.
The piglet got bigger from being a small four pounds to a
more piggy 150. It was lucky the Altsmans chose to keep
the animal.

LuLu took one look at Jo Ann. Lulu began to cry. Then she
crashed through the doggy/piggy door of the mobile home.
She went out into the fenced-in yard. Lulu had never left
the yard (except for a walk on a leash). She somehow
managed to push open the gate. She went to a nearby
road.

Witnesses reported that LuLu would wait until a car came

by. Then she would calmly walk out into the road. She
3

would lie down in front of the vehicle. Drivers hooted

(honked) and swerved. One man later said he stopped. He
said he was not sure what the creature was.

He was too

afraid to get out of his car!

When a driver failed to stop, LuLu would return to Jo Ann to
check on her, and then leave again to try and get help.
After about forty-five minutes, the pig finally got a motorist
to stop. Lulu got the man to follow her to the mobile home.

The man called:

Lady, your pig's in distress.
Jo Ann replied:
I'm in distress, too. Please call an ambulance.

The man phoned the emergency services. The ambulance

quickly arrived. LuLu tried to get into the ambulance. The
paramedics gently let her know she had done enough for
one day.

In her rush to get out to find help, LuLu had cut her potbelly on the edge of the doggy/piggy door. However, this
was her only injury that was remarkable as she had been
lying on a busy highway trying to stop cars.

Lulu had saved Jo Anns life. The newspapers reported her

story. She also got her favourite treat a jelly/jam
doughnut.

The Dolphins who saved a fisherman

Ronnie Dabal was fishing for tuna in the choppy waters of
Puerto Princesa Bay. A storm came and turned his boat
upside down. It was about 8 a.m. in the morning.
He climbed on top of a small stryoform board. He battled
the waves for hours.
Ronnie said I began to pray. I was losing my strength. I
could not keep paddling I was too tired. I felt I was about
to pass out.
I started to bleed. I was scared sharks would smell my
blood, he said.
His hopes of reaching dry land disappeared. It got dark.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a pod of around 30 dolphins
appeared. Also two whales came and swam next to him,
one on each side. The dolphins started a to nudge his tiny
life raft towards land. They used their fins.

Dabal said he passed out. He later woke up on the beach

of Barangay. Local people then helped him.
