ABBREVIATIONS AND GLOSSARY:


K knit
M1-R with left needle, pick up strand between the last stitch worked and the next stitch on the left needle from back to front, knit into it
through front loop.
M1-L with left needle, pick up strand between the last stitch worked and the next stitch on the left needle from front to back, knit into it
through back loop.
K2tog knit 2 stitches together
P2tog purl 2 stitches together
SSK slip the next 2 stitches knit wise, return both to left needle, knit 2 stitches together through back loop

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS:
Cast on 32 stitches using long tail cast on. Give some extra length to the tail for sewing of the sole later.
Join in the round, be careful not to twist the stitches.
Round 1, 3, 5: Knit.
Round 2: K1, M1-L, K14, M1-R, K2, M1-L, K14, M1-R, K1. (36 stitches)
Round 4: K1, M1-L, K1, M1-L, K14, M1-R, K1, M1-R, K2, M1-L, K1, M1-L, K14, M1-R, K1, M1-R, K1. (44 stitches)
Round 6: K2, M1-L, K2, M1-L, K14, M1-R, K2, M1-R, K4, M1-L, K2, M1-L, K14, M1-R, K2, M1-R, K2. (52 stitches)
Round 7 round 11: Knit.
Round 12: K2tog, K16, SSK, SSK, SSK, SSK, K2tog, K2tog, K2tog, K2tog, K16, SSK. (42 stitches)
Round 13, 15, 17: Knit.
Round 14: K15, SSK, SSK, K4, K2tog, K2tog, K15. (38 stitches)
Round 16: K13, SSK, SSK, K4, K2tog, K2tog, K13. (34 stitches)
With smaller needles,
Round 18: K2tog, K1, *(P2, K2), repeat * to last 3 stitches, P1, P2tog. (32 stitches)
Work 2 x 2 ribbing for 12 rounds, or more if you like to have taller cuff.

FINISHING:
Sew up bottom seam using the long tail from the cast on. Weave in ends. Make a second identical bootie.
