For the double page spread I (Lauren

Stocks) used InDesign software to create

the two pages based on our group
documentary. The first step I took was to
insert the photo that we had taken and
edited on PhotoShop and place the image
across both pages. I made sure that the
main image was on the right hand side of
the page due to this being a common
convention for magazines. The image has a
grey background and we wanted this so we
could add more colour. I then began to
insert two long rectangles at the top and
bottom of the page because I recognise
that this is a common convention for
magazines to link their pages together. I
used the filler tool to ensure that they were
both the same colour and matched to the
nail colour of the main image. I then typed
out the headline of our article and ensured
that this text would be larger than the rest.
I enlarged the word obsessed because we
wanted it to stand out to our targeted
audience.

To make sure that our colour theme of

give a brief overview of the article and is used
to make sense of/ relate to the main image.

After I had placed the article into the columns I

had to proof read it and use the tool bar to get
rid of any hyphenation throughout the text.
This is so that I could check and add or change
anything in the article that I thought would
sound better. I also used the tool that would
make the text move into the next column
when it had got to the end of the column. I
then placed 3 images into the article that I
thought would relate to the text. These images
are from our documentary footage and will be
shown when our readers watch the one-off
episode. Once I had placed the images where
they are suitable I used one of the tools so
that the text would move around the image,
this meant that if I decided to change where I
first placed the image, I would be able to
move it without having to re-organise the text.
I also had to crop and resize the images so
that they would fit within the column outline
that is placed as a grid over the page.

This is our final DPS outcome. Under each of

the images there are subtitles to explain what
each image if for and give the reader an
insight to our documentary. This was also in
the text colour orange so that they would
look different to the article text. A by-line has
also been added under the subheading which
shows who the article was written by, along
with photo credit on the right hand side of the
page in a extremely small font so that it
doesnt draw too much attention. On the right
hand side above the main image is another
quote from the article. This has been used to
provide factual information to our targeted
audience.
