American School of Brasilia Celebrating Diversity & Cultivating Citizenship January 10,2016 To Whom It May Concern, It is both an honor and a pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Haylee Hanson. I had the opportunity to work with Haylee from October - December 2015. Haylee was a student teacher in my third grade classroom at Escola Americana de Brasilia (EAB), Brazil. Escola Americana de Brasilia is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Our educational programs rank with those found in any progressive school system in the United States. Along with the above accreditation, the Escola Americana de Brasilia is accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education and holds membership in the Association of American Schools of South America, as well as, the Association for the Advancement of International Education, Students attending our school are children of diplomats and business people living both temporarily and permanently in Brasilia, Haylee’s positive outlook, excellent work ethic and genuine concern for her students make her a welcome addition to any staff. During her student teaching practice in third grade, Haylee successfully implemented fan instructional program based on standards and benchmarks and best practice methodology. She has implemented the components of balanced literacy, particularly in Guided Reading. She has also participated in professional development centered on implementing Common Core State Standards into the ‘Math Workshop Model and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of English Language Learners. Haylee developed hands-on, cooperative lessons that allowed all students at varying levels to remain engaged and excited about learning. One of Haylee’s strongest qualities is her ability to establish a nurturing and effective classroom climate that is based on mutual respect and a strong culture for learning. This environment of enforcing good character values results in positive interactions among her community of leamers and encourages students to take risks and meet their potential. Haylee is sensitive to difference in learning styles and abilities and strives to accommodate and differentiate to meet the needs of all students. Haylee adapted easily to the school and social community. She remained flexible and respectful to the ‘many cultures and backgrounds represented both in our classroom and on our campus at large. During her time here, she was easily able to establish rapport not only with the students, but our parent families and staff members. She enjoyed leaning about the Brazilian culture and took full advantage of every ‘opportunity to get to know it better. Haylee is an excellent team member, She is a great listener and has a sharp intellect that assists us in developing new ideas for lessons and finding solutions easily to challenges. She is extremely hard working, offering to stay late cach day and taking the time to redo assignments on her own accord to ensure that they will provide the best learning for students. Haylee Hanson is an exceptional and committed educator, a supportive colleague, and an adventurous traveler. She is ready for any challenge that presents itself. I have leamed a lot from her and have appreciated my opportunities to work with her. The school that hires Haylee will find her to be a great asset. I wish her every success as she continues her international school career.
