ACT UP London is a revitalised chapter of the nonpartisan international movement, founded in 1987, united
in anger and committed to direct action to end the HIV/
AIDS pandemic.
ACT UP London is a diverse group of individuals united
in anger. We are committed to direct action to end the
HIV pandemic. We are committed to fighting to end
all inequalities and injustices that perpetuate it. We are
part of the global ACT UP network. AIDS Coalition
to Unleash Power (ACT UP) is an international direct
action advocacy group working to impact the lives of
people with AIDS (PWAs) and the AIDS pandemic to
bring about legislation, medical research and treatment
and policies to ultimately bring an end to the disease by
mitigating loss of health and lives.

Silence = 40
Taking our campaigning in a new direction, targeting
the 40 commonwealth countries which still criminalize
homosexuality, highlighting the link between stigma
surrounding the gay community, and increased HIV
transmission levels.
Fuck 4 Pharmaceuticals
A direct action putting body shaming at the forefront of
the struggle to overcome the pharmaceutical stronghold
on our health. We will demonstrate sex positivity and
body awareness in a way that wont be ignored
ACT UP Women
A collaboration with Sisters Uncut and ACT UP to bring
womens issues onto the agenda of HIV campaigning,
culminating in a March of the Invisible, highlighting the
ignorance surrounding women and HIV.
PrEP
Heard of PrEP yet? PrEP is a preventative measure
for those with a negative HIV status, which stops the
transmission of HIV through taking a single pill a day. Its
currently available on the NHS for 400 per month, which
is completely unrealistic, and we arent standing for it.
ACT UP Showbiz
Building on the glitz and glamour weve shoved in the
faces/armpits/knee joints of our willing and generous
audiences this year, with more HIV/HepC Blind Dates,
AIDStravaganzas and undoubtedly more
SHAFTED?!
SHAFTED?! is an unashamedly deviant HIV cabaret and
activism movement to stop the HIV Second Silence and in
tribute to the activism of Aids Coalition to Unleash Power
(ACT UP). The show combines dance, performance, live
music, stunts and spoken word to tell true life stories of
people living with and affected by the virus. It is part of a
wider body of activism combining workshops, mentoring
schemes and direct actions UK-wide, in response to
austerity cuts and the silence around the epidemic.
Everything else...
Education events, skill sharing, community days, days of
nourishment, Teach Ins to strengthen ACT UP activists on
a range of issues chosen by the network, and more!
