Dealing with Nine Star Ki Monthly Stars

This article assumes that you are familiar with the way by which the annual Stars
are derived for Nine Star Ki and Feng Shui*. You will then also know that, where we
may rely on a formula to find annual Stars, there does not seem to be a clear cut
formula by which to obtain monthly Stars. This article finally offers a short-cut to
find the month Stars. Finally, because most may still be carrying around a table for
monthly Stars such as the one shown here, or they will have commited the table to
memory, which is fine but I will try make this into a much smoother endeavor.
This table for month Stars first assumes that you know your annual Star. Your
annual Star can be then located in the top row in either of the columns showing
Stars 1,4,7 - 2,5,8 or 3,6,9. If you refer column belonging to your annual Star with
your month of birth this will then give your Nine Star Ki month (second) Star. Of
course you need to still check exactly in which Solar month you are born according
to the Qi (Ki), because you may need to assume the Star of the previous month if
you are born between the first up to the ninth of a month: find table at the end).
Example birthdate: born March 1973. Nine Star Ki annual Star is 9 Fire, which you
locate in the second column (3,6,9). Go down until you find March: month Star 4.
Finding Your Second Star
To find your month Star you need your annual (first) Star.
When this first Star is either 1, 4, or 7 check the second column.
When your first Star is either 3, 6, or 9 check the third column.
When your first Star is either 2, 5, of 8 check the last column.
Go to the column that hosts your first Star and look up your month of birth.
Cross column and row to find your second (or Child) Star.

Unlike for annual Stars, there seems to have been no formula to calculate monthly
Stars, i.e. not that I know of. Not satisfied with this, I once asked a mathematician
to find a month formula, but he came back with a neat formula, but one that was
more complicated than perhaps anything combined so far. If you are aware of any
month formula, please contact me so that future readers may benefit. So, at long
last I then found my own trick song that I want you to have as well as a tiny
calculation that you will find here also - because it will help you get rid of the month
table altogether.
Then, we will also show you how to work with monthly Stars using your fingers and
how you can use your fingers to locate the Earthly Branches, more popularily the
Chinese zodiac signs (also known as animals), and how to project the Luoshu on
your fingers. On account of locating Branches on your hand, we are aware that
there are more formal formats, but the one proposed here is for sake of simplicity.

Bigger and smaller bucket

Since any cycle of month Stars relies on and lies within a cycle of year Stars (earth
orbit around the sun) and any cycle of hour Stars lies within a cycle of day Stars
(earths rotation along its own axis), you can see from the table that February will
be always either 8 Earth, 2 Earth or 5 Earth, depending on the annual Star. You will
also note Earth Stars for May, August and November. Earth Stars start a season
and be governing the digestive system and later on in the article we hope to then
also share with you what must be one of lost applications for these Earth months.
You will further note affinity between Stars 1,4,7 2,5,8 and 3,6,9. Popularily, if
you are a sports instructor and you want to divide your team of nine players into
three smaller teams you would ask numbers 1,2 and 3 to step forward and then ask
number 4 to join number 1, you would ask number 5 to join number 2 and so on
until you have your three sub-groups. In other words, certain months form a
smaller Qi cycle of affinity within a larger year cycle of related Qi, or we say, Stars
may either belong to the Upper-, the Middle- or the Lower cycle. Thus, if we want
to determine Nine Star Ki month Stars, we relate to the Nine Star Ki year Star.
Each of the 9 Stars Ji Xng - links to one of the Five Transformations - W
Xng - phases. Stars 1, 4 and 7 are master of their respective cycles.

However, even the above table is but a reflection of a yet larger depiction that
shows us the significance of the month Stars. We will show this diagram a little
further down, by which you will see how the monthly Stars table used here is in fact
a spiral and you will once more appreciate how Nine Star Ki time cycles eventually
coincide with Chinese time cycles.
Why start this table in February, rather than have this table start with January?
The month of January may carry significance in Gregorian timing and calendric
principles, as well as for our times January may contain the all important event of
Perihelion (earths closest approach to the sun on its annual orbit) but it is to again
signify how the month of February starts a Solar year in our Qi studies.
Chinese calendric timing is based in the 24 Solar Terms, dividing a year into 24
units of 15 days approximately, such that a year be defined to start when the sun
reaches 15 degrees into the zodiac sign of Aquarius (February), just as each month
will start when the sun reaches 15 degrees into its respective zodiac sign. This is
why for the start of Solar months, you need use the table at the end of this article.

Month formulae
Let me then introduce a neat and easy equation that I found to calculate the Qi for
February for any given year. Once you then established Star for February, you can
derive Stars for any successive month the same Solar year.
If you want to know the Star for February of a certain year, you first decide into
what sub-group of Stars the annual Star falls, i.e. either 1,4,7 2,5,8 or 3,6,9.
If we want to know Star for February to a 1 Water year, we first determine Star 1
to fall into the 1,4,7 sub-group. You now simply add all digits of this group and add
5 and not only will you have the Star for February in years of 1 Water, but also for
4 Wood and 7 Metal years. Note that the outcome of 1 + 4 + 7 will be 12. You will
have to reduce back 12 to a single digit by yet commiting 1 + 2 = 3. Then you take
3 and add 5 to get 8.

2-5-8
3-6-9

Equation
1+4+7
2+5+8
3+6+9

+ 5 = 23

/ 1+7=8
/ 2+0=2
/ 2+3=5

Resultant Star

5

Now you can do without the conventional month table. It is simply a matter of
adding the year Stars belonging to a particular sub-group, add 5 and reduce the
outcome to a single digit that then gives the Star for February for the year. It will
take you no effort at all to commit this calculation to memory. Once you found the
Star for February, you just use your fingers to count other months as shown below.
Then, follow the method of counting on your fingers, shown further down also, until
you reached the desired month Star.
Trick song
Then also, I will show you a nice trick song that I found in order to get rid of the
month table and that will get you into some rap rhythm. It is again all about finding
the Star for February for 1,4,7 2,5,8 and 3,6,9 years. Once you found the Star for
February, again, all other months Stars for that year fall into place.
Annual Star
Star February

1-4-7
8

2-5-8
2

3-6-9
5

If you recall the Dolly Parton song 9 to 5, this may help, but only after you added
one more hour to your working day, so it becomes 8 to 5 and this then culminates
into 8-2-5. Here then is the rhyme. You can slap your fingers and stamp your feet
in an upbeat rhythm when you memorize this song, but I would just make sure
your neighbors are not anywhere near, or they may be making a phone call.
February comes alive; 1,2,3 gives 8-2-5
It says that the year comes alive (starts) in February and that the Star for February
then depends on 1,2,3, which is of course code. Out of each set of Stars, only the
first is mentioned, so you extend 1,2,3 to read 1,4,7 2,5,8 and 3,6,9 respectively.
You may still wish to stick with the conventional month table - which by itself is not
too complicated to memorize even, if only you memorize one month Star from each
column, for example your own month Star and another month from the next
column but say - now you tune in on a loved one whos month Star becomes your
reference point -, or you can now rely on the formula or the trick song. This
actually concludes our calculations on account of month Stars, however, besides
not carrying a month table, you may not be carrying pen and paper, so we will
suggest some enjoyable tricks you can do on your fingers and still perform.

Everything is in your hand

There are several nice ways by which you can use your fingers in your calculations
and we will explore a few. You will rely on your fingers especially when you need
find Nine Star Ki month Stars. First look at the four fingers in your hand and note
how each finger can represent a season, while each finger can be furthermore
divided into three sections, each to represent a month. You may use your thumb as
a pointer.

Locate the start of seasons at the base of your fingers.

These months signify the Earthly Branches of Yin Tiger,
Si Snake, Shen Monkey and Hai Pig that are considered
the Birth Places, i.e. containing the first Life Stage for
the Five Transformations. Considered from 9 Stars,
these months are also always Earth in nature, i.e. 2, 5 or
8, signifying the digestive system and therefore hinting
times that would necessitate for certain alterations in
food intake and activity so as to keep your personal
magnetism in phase with the ever changing (Heaven
and Earth) environmental currents.
The middle sections of your fingers then mark the
Equinoxes and Solstices.
The monthly Branches at the tip of your fingers may
represent the so-called Earth Branches, i.e. April is
Chen Dragon month and predominantly Earth in nature
although still very much within the Wood domain.

You can project months and seasons

on your fingers, although we most
particularily do not mention the
seasons by name, but rather than
Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter
use Wood months, Fire months,
Metal months and Water months.
Using seasons by name would imply
that the basic techniques pertaining
to our Qi studies should be practised
differently for the Hemispheres*,
which they are pertinently not.
Your four fingers can signify the
domain of Wood-, Fire-, Metal- and
Water months. Because a year is
defined as to start on 4 or 5
February - with the sun reaching 15
degrees into the zodiac of Aquarius you may count February as the first
month. This is valid for Chinese Feng
Shui, Four Pillars of Destiny and Nine
Star Ki, whereas only the astrology
system of Zi Wei Dou Shu would use
the Lunar calendar.
Projecting months on your fingers,
you can use you thumb to go by any
section of your fingers, and either
count forward or backward,
depending on point of reference.
Starting with the lower section of
your index finger and using your
thumb - count months from
February to January a few times,
until you are comfortable doing this.

Also, start at the tip of your pinky for January and learn to count back all the way
down to February, because in this method you will be counting backward also.
Once we know how to use our fingers in time calculation, we can allocate Nine Star
Ki Stars or the Twelve Earthly Branches and the Ten Heavenly Stems.

Stems and Branches

As seen from the geocentric plane, we can use Twelve Earthly Branches to depict
centrifugal terrestrial forces associated with earths rotation as they also govern
organs and meridians. On a biological level, they can be linked to the mother and to
govern and form the digestive system. Ten Heavenly Stems may signify celestial
forces and may be linked to the father to govern and form the nervous system.

A year in Feng Shui, Four Pillars of

Destiny and Nine Star Ki is defined
as to start at 4 or 5 February.
February is the Yin Tiger month,
March is Mao Rabbit and so on.
The Earthly Branches are more
popularily known as the Chinese
zodiac animals, but these are just
terrestrial forces. Each Earthly
Branch contains one, two or three
hidden elements, of which one is
always the major God. These hidden
elements can be any of the Ten
Heavenly Stems which are the Five
Transformations in either their Yin or
Yang appearance.

You can project the Luoshu over

your index-, middle- and ring finger,
allocating one Star to each subsector
on your fingers.
Of course you would fly the Stars in
their designated directional pattern,
just as you would for the Luoshu.
The example would be the basic Luo
Shu of 5 Earth, but you can of
course commit any of the 9 Stars to
the center section of your middle
finger and follow the flying pattern
from there.
Once more, you have your thumb
free to fly over your fingers.

Year Star
2-5-8

So far we alloted the month of

February to the bottom section of
your index finger, but we may let
go of any specific order. Any month
at all could be projected in the first
section of the index finger,
depending on your reference.
Let us find the second (month) Star
for a person born in April 1962. We
know 1962 is a 2 Earth year, so it
belongs to the 2-5-8 group of
Stars. From the table below we
know that February of a 2 Earth
year has Star 2. We take 2 to the
lower section of the index finger to
indicate February, we touch it with
our thumb and think February. We
need to know the Star for April, so
we want to now first locate April on
our fingers. So, count February,
March, April and stop at April.

2+5+8

Equation
+ 5 = 20 / 2 + 0 = 2

Star February
2

Then go back. Now you know up to what point to count the Stars backward from
February, because the next thing to do is think 2,1,9 to find that April is 9 Fire. If
you need to do calculations for a person born in October, November or December
and rather than taking February as your reference month, you can take November,
because you already know that Stars for February and November are identical.

Blind mans method

This method is just one out of many. Virtually
anything can be stored on your fingers. It is
tremendous and you can surprise yourself
and others.
As you can imagine, it would be impossible to
carry books, calendars and tables wherever
you go. In the old days, masters and warriors
would travel great distances by foot and the
less one needed to carry, the better.
Have you ever seen images like the one here,
portraying Chinese people with their hands
hidden behind big sleeves? This may be done
not to keep ones hands warm or for fashion
sake.
Long sleeves also enabled a person to either
practise mudras or secretly counting formula
on their fingers. Long sleeves may be used to
hide weapons when passing through villages.
This image is a fragment of a painting by Pu Ru
http://www.chinapage.com/painting/puru/puru.html

If you consulted a master, he could be seemingly leisurely asking you questions,

maybe on the construction date and orientation of your home or ask your day of
birth, and start giving you all kinds of true and fascinating stuff without even
having used any paper. Of course, either hidden in his sleeves or with his hands
behind his back, he would be doing finger calculations. Masters would not leave any
written notes for you to either figure out how he went about things or so that you
could complain or take advantage later on.
Some finger calculations became famous because they were used by blind fortune
tellers. By commiting formula to memory, one can do without any calendar and
swiftly calculate the Four Pillars of Destiny horoscope just on the fingers.
You too can learn this technique and have most - if not all - of the Chinese calendar
and Chinese compass codified in your hands.

Using your fingers in Nine Star Ki

Suppose you are sitting with a person with Nine Star Ki Numbers 9.1.4.
It is currently a 5 Earth year and it is now April. The person tells you that: I will be
going on a trip to (such and such place) in December.
In this case, use your index, middle and ring finger to project the Luoshu for a 5
Earth year.
Again, you want to locate Star for February in a 5 Earth year and using the
equation, you know it is Star 2. Flying over your fingers you now obtain the Star for
December.

Extended significance of month table used in 9 Ki

The following 24 Solar Terms table has been deliberately shown incomplete on
account of the organs, so as to distinguish and stress the subject under discussion.
It strikes me how today food energetics - by that the blood component - seems to
have been left out from the Oriental systems. We seem to have forgotton much of
the very core of our Qi studies, while the biological-physiological component of our
studies becomes apparent even from tables such as the one shared further down.
Nowadays both Westerners and Asians* may perhaps smile and nod their heads
over anecdotes such as where a zen master in his last days selects a successor, or
how an apprentice was required to stick with the master for fifteen years or longer,
such without hardly being taught anything then also.
* I can in fact not stand classifications like the one here, because it doesnt make any sense
and it does not at all touch on what I am trying to communicate. We cannot say that there
is a Western or Oriental type of thinking. Even if we keep to this type of assessment, it is
clear that some Westerners think and live more Oriental than most Asians still would and
how many people from the East adopted Western type of thinking. It would be better to
abandon terms such as Eastern and Western and replace it by dualistic thinking and
monistic thinking, or, if we really need to narrow down and as I would prefer
distinguish between line thinkers (which style will eventually lead to and may ultimately
result in mere analytic, fragmentaric and mechanical thinking) and spiral thinkers which
style at least hosts the capacity to have a clear sensation of what Qi actually pertains to.

Still, in whatever we study be that Feng Shui, Nine Star Ki or any other Oriental
Metaphysical systems such as martial arts, acupuncture and so on - we are
primarily interested in establishing conveyance between Heaven, Man and Earth.
Mostly, where Heaven and Earth are defined, we find this as Time and Space. If we
were to yet define the domain of Man Qi, we would come across such explanations
as luck, fate, study, good deeds or action and choice, which statements we
may consider, but which would be then yet a smaller bucket, however, the smaller
bucket yet fitting into a bigger bucket. Let me suggest this definition for Man Qi.
Man Qi is in the ability and effort done to bring and maintain your personal
magnetism in accordance with the ever changing Heaven and Earth currents.
Wherever we may locate planet earth on its orbit around the sun, this will influence
earth energy, therefore your personal magnetism, so to speak, therefore it could
hint towards proper diet and activity. This subject is beyond the scope of this article
as it would require rather more indepth studies into food transmutation, however,
you could broaden your studies into this direction and read about Traditional
Chinese Medicine, Five Transformations and diet and more specifically Macrobiotics.
There are many naturally based dietary systems, all worth checking out for as long
as you monitor that they would keep to a doctrine that includes the natural cycles
and offer a vision concerning fate of mankind. You do not need to be a health freak
to fully understand the link between blood quality and fate. For as long as the
public misses this link, we will find martial artists just only throwing their limbs in
the air, practitioners of Zen just only sitting on a cushion, Feng Shui practitioners
just minding form and furniture and astrologers actually focus on character and
temperament, while not ever noting how organs produce emotions or whatever
lies innate, must externalize and thus a persons temperament perhaps merely a
symptom or discharge of an (excess) of underlying organ Qi. This way, the public
may remain very much outside in the dark, so we may yet restore back the blood
component into our studies. This may ultimately also solve much of the confusion
(many will be confused by all the seeming contradictions in Yi studies and could
hardly or not handle the paradox on which most Oriental systems are based) and
perhaps even controversies that we have seen happen for our Qi studies, as well as
the sometimes fragmentaric thinking and mechanical approach.

Said differently, did you notice how in some of those zen stories, the kitchen chef
becomes the next zen master. It is easy to overlook the significance, to just smile
over such ignorance and turn the page. On the other hand, he would be the one
controlling fire, hence blood quality and health, thus fate. Yet, it seems how to
many practitioners of zen, sitting so to speak and spiritual meditation may
have become central focus. It may seem a little harder to notice that the actual
practise, the meditation, was in keeping to a certain diet and yet practice ultimate
breathing by chewing each bite thoroughly, so today we may have a situation that,
instead, the adept that can sit still best and longest will likely become the next zen
teacher, whereas meditation, rather than having anything primarily to do with our
mind or spirit, may be just in training thus physiological state - of our body cell.
Proceeding along this line, this is why Michio Kushi once said: If you wish to write
(receive rather) your own Dao De Jing, eat what Lao Zi had for dinner. It is no
different for Feng Shui which many would meanwhile actually seem to believe is
about interior design or Nine Star Ki and Four Pillars of Destiny that people may
regard mere astrological systems, which they are not.
Since 1994 and on account of larger time cycles in Nine Star Ki and Feng Shui
I have projected how probably a great deal in our Qi studies will yet change in the
period 2000-2008 (Nine Star Ki) and 2004 (Feng Shui) onward. Not only will we
finally see more of the Chinese Classics be translated into English and spread over
the internet, I believe that gradually the blood and food component be restored
back into our studies. I have maintained how the field of Oriental Metaphysics will
see more interest in science, rather than leaving practitioners hanging in folklore,
by which our studies will be less and less regarded belief systems. Because of this,
we have seen how some of the earlier household names in the field of teaching
meanwhile got lost for the field. This trend will further continue due also to new
approaches, the abandoning of some of the myths and breaking of red herrings
(decoy) along which lines the public has earlier learned Feng Shui, Nine Star Ki and
Four Pillars of Destiny, where instead the analogies will have made way for actual
astronomical explanations. It is just a matter of time therefore, or no student - not
even clients - will accept some of the more popular teachings we have seen. Future
practitioners of Feng Shui, Nine Star Ki and Four Pillars would be much more
profoundly trained in astronomy, sun physics, geophysics and other exact sciences.
That would be timely, because all this will then also finally help dissolve the image
that most seem to still project on those ancient masters, whom would be generally
still regarded long-haired and bare-foot hippies, hopping around the mountains like
true backward folk with no more to offer than silly exclamations. As our community
will be once more embracing the science of Earth Changes (you may in this regard
wish to conduct websearches on Precession Cycle, Pole Shift, Pole reversal, Alpha
Draconis, Star Vega, Solar Flare, Sun Spot, GRB, earth magnetosphere, magnetic
North) and recognize the ancients to be the scientists that they were, some of them
so flawless and so spot-on that they would easily be todays Nobel Price winners.
While most of modern mankind still needs to get to the first clue regarding
planetary fate, the Earth Changes, these scholars had documented the exact events
and time scales seven or even eight thousand years ago, in regions such as Egypt,
the Old Persia and later (by migration) China, Korea and Japan, having taken what
they found onto the Luopan for all to see, be that in easy-for-the-layman-to-chew
codes so that we have been meanwhile taught by way of fairy tales and myths and
as a result of this came to believe that those ancient masters must have just been
a collection of morons. How far from the truth that is.
You may also reflect on this one as probably neither one of us would nowadays find
either guts or patience: the apprentice initially seeking training with his master in
the mountains, but now he feels kept on a leash as he soon found himself washing

dishes instead. Of course, now and then the master feeds him goodies, but this
may be nonsense teaching and probably just to keep the man busy and to ensure
that he would reveal himself should he then discontinue his training to start his own
school prematurely. He will be taught by one after the other red herring, paradox.
He will be shown the finger, rather not the moon. The master would bring him a
bucket of water, perhaps even with a fish in it, but the man would remain clueless
as to where the water had come from. But then after 10 years, the master finally
takes him to the water well and he receives genuine exercise and teaching.
Did you at any point find yourself blaming the master for deliberately holding back
on the teaching? It may be as beautiful as it is simple: the student can be now
shown in less than a month what may have otherwise taken many years - with
rather superficial result probably even - for simple reason that all this time he had
assimilated the water from the locale, he ate and transformed into blood the
vegetation that grows around where he lives, he walked the soil with that particular
Earth Qi while he also slept under the sky with its distinct radiation, so finally his
personal energy perhaps ready to receive and channel the teaching this having
much less to do with (teaching of) his shifu as generally presumed perhaps -, while
then also allowing a more immediate physical sensation of truth, the Yi. Now the
ultimate conveyance between Heaven, Man and Earth was established and we have
one more true teacher going out into the world to help change fate and destiny in a
profound, empathic and noble manner. It is not ever about technical know-how, as
in the end it is all about nobility and compassion. One without the other is void.
Originally the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches were used in the Chinese
calendar to govern a ten day week. Applications were in warfare and also to
distinguish agricultural events, like when and what to sow, when to harvest, what
crop should or should not be planted for certain years. The start of a new season
was then considered the start of a different Qi to which one needed to respond by
adjusting ones diet and activity. Therefore - in 9 Ki - 2, 5 or 8 Earth months
indicating the start of a new season. Stars 2,5 and 8 govern the digestive system:

Stomach2, Spleen8 and Pancreas5 belong to the digestive system. One would adjust
dietary habits and prepare food according to Yin en Yang, Five Transformations
(a.o. incorporating color and taste) and apparent season. Other factors that could
be incorporated in a more intelligible food choice would be gender, age, activity, life
dream, latitude, geography, topography or the weather, influencing the choice of
food, what to eat, how to grow, select or prepare food, colors and tastes to use.
By table on the next page we will consider the 24 Solar Terms, or rshs Ji Q - divided into Jie Qi and Zhong Qi, while again - for purpose of this
discourse, we are only highlighting the 2, 5 and 8 months and the related organs.
Jie Qi fall anywhere between the 4th and 9th of a Solar month as they mark the
arrival of a new Solar month. Zhong Qi fall anywhere between the 18th and 24th of
a Solar month as they mark the mid point of Solar months. Dates are given as
approximates only. Just as by meridian clock we can yet find correlation between
meridians and Chinese double hours, we can treat the 24 Solar Terms as a
biological-physiological clock to mark not only agricultural - times for sowing or
harvesting crops, but to alter our food intake and activity according to the ever
changing environmental Qi. Note also that the here given table will be just strongly
suggestive to certain Chinese geography and latitude and we should yet alter to fit
other locale.

Ascending and descending Qi

To project the 24 Solar Terms over the Luopan, we may start with L Chn Spring
Begins at Yin Tiger month in February and proceed clockwise. Mid point Yin Tiger
becomes Y Shu Rain Water. The Nine Star Ki Earth Stars, indicating start of a new
season, are given in blue. Zi Rat is always either 1,4 or 7, Hai Pig is always either
2,5 or 8, Xu Dog always either 3,6 or 9. If you count anti-clockwise starting from Zi
Rat December in the outer layer and proceed along the circumference while you
follow 1,2,3 1,2,3 until you reached Chou Ox January, you then move on to the
second layer (ring) and while you proceed with 4,5,6 4,5,6, notice the spirallic
movement of the Universe.

The movement of time follows the centrifugality and centripetality of Qi. Years and
months have been currently moving in a Yang or descending order. According to
Michio Kushi, current descending movement of year and month Stars will continue
until from 4 February 2104 onward years and months will proceed in a Yin
ascending - order. However, we must accept that the last thing has not been said
on the account of time cycles be they for years, months, days or hours so we
suggest you meanwhile keep your mind ready to unlearn some of the methods that
you may have practised and consider new approaches anywhere in the near future.
Note the basic configuration in Luoshu when you project it over Luopan. Luoshu
hosts the Earth Stars on an axis coinciding with L Chn Spring Begins at Yin Tiger
February and L Qi Autumn Begins at Shen Monkey August, or the NortheastSouthwest axis, if you will, which axis I like to call arrow. It divides the warmer
and colder sections to a year and thereby certain Yin and Yang types of food
consumed as well as certain Yang or Yin types of people born during those periods.
If the atmosphere (i.e. the whole of environmental factors such as but not limited
to - season, climate, weather and considerations of geography and Latitude)
becomes more Yang and in order to maintain equilibrium, one should include more
Yin foods and vice versa. It is another one of those indications jumping at us from
Luoshu and Luopan for the central role of importance played by our digestive
system and it may again hint how food intake, external treatments such as
acupuncture, breathing exercise and chewing may be incorporated in order to keep
Heaven Qi (Time), Earth Qi (Space) and Human Qi (Action) in phase. This way, the
quality of our blood becomes the central focus in whatever we pursuit. Our blood is
the antenna as it will be functional in the processing of Heaven and Earth forces.
Between Heaven, Man and Earth Qi studies, dietary implications for maintaining
good fate may have been the missing link and in need of restoring back in our
metaphysical studies, for which much of the indicators may just lie in Luopan.

Start of Solar months (January 1955 starts on the 6th of January)

The following tables apply to Nine Star Ki, Feng Shui and Four Pillars of Destiny
timing. If the second table says that November 2008 starts 7 November 2008 at
01:11, this is the time given for GMT. Month then starts when the sun reaches
exactly overhead the 0 Longitudinal meridian at Greenwich. If your locale keeps to
GMT+1 you would yet need subtract one hour of clock time to arrive at that Time
meridian, by which you would still arrive at 7 November. If your locale keeps to
GMT+2, you will subtract 2 hours to arrive at 6 November for your Time Meridian.
Read Heluos article: True Local Solar Time for more on calculations to get to time
for your city. In order to calculate True Local Solar Time for your locale, you shall
have to yet factor in Daylight Saving Time (DST) when applicable, as well as
Equation of Time. You can mirror such calculation against the Longitude generally
given for your city, however you can reach greater accurracy by using Google Earth
to get to Longitude exactly overhead your roof and do calculations accordingly.

Alternative 9 Star month table

We have earlier in this article used table by which to determine your month Star.
The two tables on next page - along then also with table on previous page for the
start of Solar months - should be sufficient for you to determine your three
personal Nine Star Ki Stars. Where generally three separate tables be used to
determine first-, second- and third Star, we have reduced this to two tables.
Please note that for our publications and wherever handling third Star principles for
Nine Star Ki, we largely go by the so-called Japanese doctrine, which may be traced
back to Japanese dr. Makoto Jiro (Sinjiro) Sonoda - (1876-1961) and
whom had presented the contemporary 9 Ki in transformed format during the
Taisho part of the Meiji era in 1924. Unlike first and second Star, his third Star will
not be derived from time.
Sonoda will be the one to be accredited with having formalized Nine Star Ki in the
format we will employ today. Originally, Sonoda had gathered information on
ancient Chinese Five Star astrology, the 9 Stars and Twelve Earthly Branches to
then blend them into his new system, which he called Ji Xng Q Xu ,
or simply Q Xu. In Japan, the system is known as Kyu Sei Ki Gaku, on which he
lectured and released numerous publications.

Sonoda will then be largely credited with having taken Nine Star Ki to its current
state and whom is also said to have first introduced the so-called 30-60 degrees
Luoshu directions sometimes also referred to as Japanese Luoshu - where Sonoda
envisioned Luoshu to have the cardinal directions cover 30 degrees of arc and the
subcardinal directions each covering 60 degrees of circumference.
Besides this and wherever so stated we may then use the day Star of birth as the
third Star, which would be in line much more with original Chinese technique. Here,
a person with Qi map 9.3.4 would be born on a day with Ki in 4 Wood.
Last but not least, teacher and author Robert Sachs (book list at www.heluo.nl)
uses yet another neat third Star system that you want to check out.
Please note that Nine Star Ki does not distinguish between Stars for males and
females, where the Chinese Ming Gua system employed for purpose of Chinese
Feng Shui would. The only time Nine Star Ki alters Stars for males and females, is
for people born in 5 Earth years. Star 5 however omnipresent holds no direction
or Gua. Very much still keeping to character descriptions and other typologies given
for 5 Earth, males born under Star 5 and so as to acquire direction and Gua
adopt Star 2 Earth, while females born under Star 5 would adopt Star 8 Earth.

If your day of birth falls between the first and eigth of any solar month, chances are that you
need adopt the Star for the preceeding Solar month. The first Star is derived from your Solar
year of birth, your second Star is derived from your Solar month of birth, so both will be time
related. If not the day Ki of birth, your third Star given here comes from directionological Luoshu
deduction, not pertaining to the daily Ki calendar. Download http://www.fourpillars.net/fpfs.php

Devoted To Your Destiny In One Peaceful World

- Harvest For All Explorations with Heluo is an ongoing series of articles on the subject of time,
space and destiny and our attempt to make genuine teachings available to those on
a quest to understand Yi. The articles have been published since 1999 and by
far most have been derived from actual chapters from the extensive workbooks
to our 4-day master classes in our practitioner program Destiny Consultant.
Teachings find you, because I feel they should have reached us during early
childhood, to offer deep gratitude for once having obtained the trust of my
teachers and in an attempt to help improve fate and life on this planet.
