Thismoduleincludesstudiesofthehistory,geography,politicsandcurrentsocietal
conditionsintheGermanspeakingcountries.Thedevelopmentoftheculturalhistoryof
thesecountriesisalsoaddressed.

Extensiveandintensivetextstudies,3.5hec
Modernfictionandsuitablenonfictionwillbestudiedfromacontextualandliterary
perspective.

Grammarandwrittenexercises,7.5hec
ThismoduleincludesasystematicsurveyofGermansformsystemaswellas
significantaspectsofGermansyntax,withemphasisoncontrastivefeatures.Asurvey
ofthegeneralconceptsofgrammarisincluded.Continualwrittenpracticalexercises
willbeconducted.

education
Duringthecourse,studentswillreadliteratureforyoungpeopleandfiction.Anumber
ofworksoffictionwillbeexamined,primarilyfromadidacticalperspective.

Duringthecourse,studentswillreadworksofnonfictionandnewspaperarticles.
IncludedinthecourseisalsoasurveyoftheEuropeanUnionshistoryandorganisation.
Currentissuesandinterculturalcommunicationwillbeaddressed.

Teachingisintheformoflectures,seminarsandgroupwork.Attendanceismandatory
forthecomponentOralproficiencyandpronunciation.

Examination
ThecourseisassessedwiththegradesFail(U),Pass(G)orPasswithDistinction
(VG).
InordertoreceivethegradeofPass,theexpectedlearningoutcomesmustbeachieved.
InordertoreceiveafinalgradeofPasswithDistinctionfortheentirecourse,the
studentmustreceivethegradeofPasswithDistinctioninatleast22.5ofthe30higher
educationcredits,withatleast10hecoftheseingrammarandlanguageproficiency.
Examinationandgradingisbasedonoralandwrittenexaminationsandoral
presentations.

StudentsatLinnaeusUniversityareentitledtohavethecoursegradetranslatedintothe
7stepECTSscale.Arequesttohavethegradestranslatedmustbemadetothe
teacheratthestartofthecourse.
