The Hunger Games

Kayra Sahin

Article 1
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and
rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and
should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
This right is being taken away from all the Districts except
the Capitol because they make the people in the Districts
provide for The Capitol and make them work for them
every day. They also make 24 people (ages 12-18) fight to
the death which takes away their equality in dignity rights.

Article 2
Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration,
without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion,
political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other
status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political,
jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a
person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under
any other limitation of sovereignty.
The Districts are all self-governed by the President of the Capitol, President
Snow. President Snow also makes each District have different jobs so that
they can always take the things the districts have worked hard to make for
them (coal, seafood, luxury goods, stonework).

Article 3
Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of a
person.
The people in the Districts dont have the right to life,
liberty or security of a person because every year two
individuals (one male and one female) from each District
get thrown into an arena and must fight to the death until
the last survivor wins. Anyone the ages between 12-18 will
have their names put in a bowl, and will get two names
pulled out to determine the two chosen ones per District.

Article 4
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the
slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
The people in the districts are slaves to the capitol. They all
are very poor and have little food but work very long
hours. All of their jobs are very difficult painful types of
labour.

Article 5
No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or
degrading treatment or punishment.
Every year 24 people from the Districts have to kill each
other in many cruel different ways, in an inhuman event,
The Hunger Games. If anyone from the District tries to
runaway the capitol cuts their tongues off and make them
a servant who will never be able to speak again, these are
called Avoxes.

Article 25
(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and
well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and
medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the
event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack
of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
(2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and
assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the
same social protection.
Being 12 years old is still considered being a child, and they have a small
chance of being in The Hunger Games which violates their protection
because if they are picked, they will have to go into the arena where they all
will kill each other.
