Marquez Meets Foster

or The Handsomest Drowned Man meets How to Read Literature

like a Professor
My groups chapter____________________________________
People in my group ____________________________________
In groups of four, you will apply one chapter of How to Read Literature like a Professor to
Handsomest Drowned Man in the World. No two groups will focus on the same chapter, so if
you read both texts diligently this summer, you have an advantage. Your task is to find either
four representative passages (honors students), or two representative passages (academic
students) from Handsomest Drowned Man in the World to analyze in further detail. After
developing your interpretation, connecting ideas in the passages, and determining how those
ideas contribute to the text as a whole, create a Google docs presentation that details your
groups interpretation and application of Foster to Marquez.
You will receive two grades for this assignmenta speaking and listening grade for the
presentation in front of the class (individual) and a literature grade for the Google document your
group creates (group).
