Please write a reflection about the mini-lessons in which you were both

teacher and student. Please use the following questions to guide your
reflection.

As a teacher, what challenges did you face when trying to teach your
lesson/content to the class?
I had to think very carefully how to splain it in a way that it would be
easy to understand. I make a Prezi in order to make the lesson very
visual like that everyone would know what I was talking about.
Then I had to think about how could I make it simple, ust expleining
the things that were very important.
When I had decided what I would talk about, and I had my
presentation, I had to think about how to explain it in class, using lots
of mime and pointing everthing that was important, in the Prezi.

What did you do to overcome these challenges?


I had make a Prezi to make the lessong very visual, I had used mime,
and I choose the importants things to explain.
While I was doing my presentation, I always look at the face of my
students to see if they were understanding and explain again if it
was necesary.

As a teacher, how did this activity simulate trying to instruct one or


more ELL students in your classroom? How did you use "language" in
your instruction?

As a teacher it helped me to face for the firts time this situation. I


had learn how I have to prepare a class when my students dont speak
the same language.
I had never think about how to make this type of clases because I had
never had the necessity, thanks to these experience, I had to really think
how can I do it to be understand from everyone in my class.
The languague that I had used was very obvius and simple. I tried to find
words that where similar to english to make it easier.

As part of the "class", how can you relate this activity to the
experience of ELL students in an English speaking classroom?

This activity it helps me to how an ELL students would feel in our clases
when they dont speak a Word of english. For me was very helpfull how
Janina made her class, I think that when you do a lot of repetitions its
helps me a lot to understand what she was trying to explain us. The
activities were funny and it helps to desconect, but at the same time to
make sure taht I was understanding her class.
All these things were very helpfull for me as a student.

Overall, what do you think was the purpose of this activity?


I think the purpose was to know how teachers can feel and how
students can feel, be in the two parts and see what it helps to you
as a student to understand the class and as a teacher, realice what
we have to do when we want to be understand by people who doesn
t speak your lenguaje.
Is a good activity to start these course, being in the two parts
(student and teacher)

If I had in my class four students and two of them dont speak


my language but the others do what I would do is to try to
teach the same way for everyone, using pictures, videos and
mimic, then I would say to the students that they speak my
lenguage to sit next by the others who doesnt like taht if they
need help their classmates could help them and became
Friends with is something very improtant when you are new in
a place.
