REFLECTION

The preparation of the MASTERED TOPIC is the most challenging part of MY PERSONAL
WEBSITE. This entailed a lot of time and effort just to finish this one. The preparation of the Lesson
Plan was the first stage wherein I felt I have accomplished a gargantuan task. I am not a teacher
but I wrote a Lesson Plan which was later checked by my Auntie, a Master Teacher and finally
checked by my Father, a High School Mathematics Teacher in the USA. My LP was my guide in
executing this among selected Gifted and Talented Grade VI students of San Fernando Elementary
School. My mother was my official videographer while doing the demonstration.
I gave justice to my presentation with the help of the School Math Coordinator and the
principal. I felt like I was a real classroom teacher while doing it. I was very confident because I have
mastered this particular topic in Probability. From this, I realize that mastery of the lesson and
self-confidence are the most important qualities of an effective teacher.
The hardest part is the preparation of the video and its uploading in my personal website. I
did my best to edit and upload it with the assistance of the School ICT Coordinator and the
Librarian. To my dismay, internet signal was not working and at one point, my flash drive was
infected by virus while uploading it in an internet caf in the town proper. I cried and almost
panicked because it was the only copy I kept. I could not do a re-demonstration teaching because the
following day was the final marking period exam of the grade six students. I was sleepless, hopeless
and the only thing I used to do was cry. Until one evening, my father called me and followed up
the development of My Personal Website Project. The call was my crying moment with my father.
He tried to comfort and pacified me via the Skype. I told him that I could not be able to meet the
deadline and I might be given a failing grade. I was so apologetic to my father because I could
imagine his hardship and sacrifices as a teacher in America just to give me the best foundation for
my Tertiary Education. I have seen his misty eyes as he instructed me to relax and keep calm. He
further told me that he would make a request to my ICT Teacher for her consideration. He suddenly
went out of the screen when I saw his students entering their classroom. It was bell period in his
school.
From this experience, Ive pondered two basic important things in life. First, an ICT student
must be proactive. She must learn how to anticipate things that could possibly happen. In my case,
I could have kept a back-up of my video so that I would be ready if bad comes to worse. Second, I
realize that my family is my best haven of refuge in times of adversities. I learn to appreciate more
the value of my family especially during my downfall. Im lucky for having super caring parents
who serve as my crying shoulders and my backbone every time I encounter failure. No matter what,
my family remains the wind beneath my wings. Finally, I could say that my personal website is
a product of TEARS, LOVE and FAMILY SOLIDARITY.
