3. The exhaust of a rocket engine has values of mass flux 100 Kg/s, exhaust
velocity 1000 m/s and pressure 450 kPa. If the exit area is 0.2 m 2 and the
surrounding pressure is 100 kPa, determine the effective exhaust velocity,
produced thrust and the specific impulse?
4. Consider air-standard Brayton cycle for a jet propulsion system. The air enters
the cycle at 100 kPa, 300 K conditions. The pressure ratio of the compressor is
20:1 and the temperature at the turbine inlet is 1900 K. After the turbine, air
enters the nozzle and expands to the pressure of 100 kPa. By assuming constant
specific heats find the inlet pressure and the exit velocity of the nozzle?
