EVALUATOR SUMMARY (Attach observation if appropriate) :
Before class began, instructor was available to students to come up to her with their individual
concerns. She began class by allowing them to prepare and work in their groups before they began
their presentations. She was flexible to meet the students needs by allowing them to come in and
get their materials set up, knowing that many of them come straight from work and needed the
time to get set up. On the board, she had a written agenda so that the class knew what was in store
for them, as well as a list of due date reminders for the course. When students were presenting
their lessons in groups, she rotated throughout each group, stopping to listen to students
presentations and offering suggestions in true methods-style format. She encouraged the students
in the groups to participate by asking additional questions and kept the students on task by
reminding them to think of all of the adults in the group as though they were students. She
reminded them to discuss certain concepts in further detail, as was the objective of the
presentation. She encouraged them to use divergent questions and also pointed out highlights of
their lessons to each other. She spent time to help students correct their transitions in a more
appropriate way, by reminding them to think of how they would assess if the child had learned the
concept. She clearly encouraged the students to use handmade materials in their lessons, as is a
course requirement and helped them to brainstorm extensions of their groups activities for their
own groups of students in their placement spots. After the presentations, she arranged class time
for individual meetings while the other students worked on upcoming class assignments before
transitioning into a lecture type activity for the rest of the class period. Class time was used very
effectively and met the needs of the students in the classroom. Instructor was personable, clearly
had great relationships with all of her students, and also demonstrated content knowledge and the
ability to correct and encourage improvement in her students.
