Impromptu Speech level 3

Standards:

Increase and enhance fluency and confidence through presentations.

Present a case and express opinions in a speech with a characteristically short preparation
time.

Understanding that speaking in public is a skill that can be learned and overcome.

Identifying and acquiring the skills needed to speak in public.

Description:

Each student will be given a prompt a day before the assessment.


Students research the topic in the library or on the Internet (individually).
Students perform a short speech for 3 5 minutes, with good introduction, body and
conclusion.
The students are not expected to prepare any visuals and they cannot use any notes.
Total marks given: 5 marks.

Criteria:
A well-done speech should have the following:

Clarity of pronunciation in most of the words


Clarity of voice and use of effective body language and eye contact.
The ideas in the presentation are organized and are easy to follow (include introduction,
body and conclusion).
