They sang, played recorder and experimented with the piano. They learned to read music symbols and notes and rests and how to clap many different rhythms, playing Bingo games based on rhythms, the lines and spaces of the music staff, notes and rests, and music symbols. Ethan, Jack, Lana, and Frank took regular weekly piano lessons, and Zia, Lane, Sonora, Johnny, Jazzy, Rick, Jack, Lana, and Frank joined them in the music class. It was a pleasure to work with these students and their moms and grand moms who encouraged them and helped with the classes. There is a wonderful Usborne recorder method that I recommend for followup. It is very well organized and reinforces everything the students learned and leads them smoothly to new ideas.
