Meeting Objectives The newly re-formed Advisory Committee will learn about Phase 4 of
the Sustainable Shorelines project and provide feedback on the proposed technical approach
and products as this phase of the project gets underway.
Please dress warmly as we will do an outdoor field activity after lunch.

Big picture presentation of Phase 4 of the Sustainable Shorelines (key
activities & timeline).
10:45Presentation on Ecological and Structural Rapid Assessments
Jon Miller, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Stuart Findlay
Presentation on the approach and techniques proposed to develop the two
rapid assessments, and large group discussion.
11:30Desktop Exercise with Ecological and Structural Rapid Assessments
Activity in which small groups will try out each draft protocol based on a
hypothetical shoreline.
12:00Lunch Provided (and group photo)
12:45Field Exercise
Demonstration outdoors on how to use the protocols.
1:45 Discussion about the Two Exercises
Participants share their feedback on the exercises, other ways to measure
particular parameters, answers to key questions.
