Observation Reflection #3- Supervisor Observation of Technology Infused Lesson
1. What aspects of your lesson were implemented differently than you
planned? Why did that happen?
There was only one thing that changed the implementation of
this lesson; the students that I had. Originally when planning this
lesson I had planned for the three levels of students to be included in
the lesson; two below level, two on level, and two above level
students. However when I went to do the lesson half of the students
were either absent or where doing direct instruction in another
classroom. Thus I only taught the two above level students and one of
the on level student. Luckily I had planned for each level and how to
support them so I was still prepared for my lesson.
2. If you were going to teach this lesson to the same group of students,
what would you do differently? Why? What would you do the same?
Why?
The one thing I would change for this group would be to do a few
sample question to teach them the system/ technology we were using
then go into the question I have prepared. One thing I would keep the

same is definitely the technology I used the students really enjoyed

working with the picture clicker system.
3. What surprised you in your lesson?
One thing that surprised me about my lesson was how once I
introduced productive struggle for problem then reviewed them how
the rest of them were easier to solve.
4. Describe an instance or particular encounter that comes to mind. Why
did you pick that instance? What is so perplexing about that particular
moment?
The event I picked was when I one of my students was struggling
to stay focused on the questions and was preoccupied with what the
rest of the class was doing. It was so perplexing because he is not
normally distracted and it caught me off guard when he did so.
5. What connections can you make to your lesson today from your
coursework, the literature, and any previous lessons or experiences?
The biggest connection that can be made is to my instructional
planning class where we are learning about differentiation strategies
which I implemented for the exit ticket of this lesson.
Analysis
1. To what extent did the students learn what was intended? How do you
know?
The students learned what was intended, equivalent fractions
and adding or subtracting fractions with the same denominator.
a. In what ways were your teaching methods effective? How do you
know?

The teaching method was effective in the way that I broke

down the problem using student strategies they came up with
and then going through their thinking.
b. In what ways were your activities effective? How do you know?
The activity was effective because all three of the students
I worked with were very excited to continue with the technology
and problems similar to it.
c. In what ways were the instructional materials effective?
Having the student write out their process them me
recording their answers for data in the plickers system was very
effective at understanding student thinking as we went through
the questions.
d. How did any special considerations of the accommodations affect
the lesson?
Since this was a small group of above and on level
students I did not offer any accommodations for these students. I
simply differentiated the exit ticket to check for understanding
on the different levels.
2. Identify an individual or groups of students who had difficulty in todays
lesson. How do you account for this performance? How will you help
this (these) student(s) achieve the learning objectives?
There was one student who had difficultly staying motivated
during this lesson. In the future for this student I would want to include
more real world interests into the lesson we were working with.
3. Identify an individual or group of students who did especially well in
this lesson today. How do you account for this performance?

Two student did very well at this assignment and the way I
accounted for this was adding extra enrichment into the exit ticket in
the form of a challenge question that was optional.
4. Based on what happened in this lesson, what are the next steps? What
do you plan to teach next to this class? Be sure to explain how you will
use information from this evaluation in future lesson planning?
The next step for this lesson is to find a way to add
accommodation and modifications for ESOL students; maybe
incorporate more visuals into the sheet or offer manipulatives for the
students to use.
