DAY 1: STORYBOARDING

Storyboarding Worksheet
Anticipatory set:
1. Show pre-selected clip of Jurassic Park

2. To spark discussion, ask students, If you were making a

movie just a single scene how would you go about
planning a successful shoot? Facilitate discussion.
3. Next, show students the storyboard for the scene shown.
Explain to students the importance of a storyboard and how
it is like the mise en place of film.
4. Draw a parallel to the importance of creating a storyboard for
presentations You dont want to just create as you go. You
will want to know when you want to zoom in, what you want
to zoom in on, where the presentation path will go etc.
Culinary Topic Assignment and Storyboarding:
1. Assign each student a pre-planned cooking technique, skill,
or fundamental recipe that will be covered on the final
practical exam.
2. Direct students to take out their culinary portfolios and locate
the learning materials that correspond to their topic.
Students may also use the classroom textbooks if desired.
Allow students 2-3 minutes to review the assigned concepts.
3. Tell students, You will be helping each other out to review all
that you have learned in culinary arts so far. You will do this
by creating an effective Prezi presentation that accurately
and succinctly details your given process. Prezis will be
presented, and links will be compiled and shared for viewing
at your convenience.
4. Using the Elmo, model the process of creating a storyboard
using the blank worksheet projected on the board. Use the
Prezi presentation example used in the previous lesson.
When explaining and modeling the use of the storyboard,
highlight 1) the box in which an illustration of the bubbles
contents should be sketched, and 2) the provided space
which should be used to verbally describe or list verbatim the
text that will accompany the bubble. Check for student
understanding before moving on to independent practice.
5. Students will then be given the remainder of the period to
begin creating their Prezi storyboards.
6. Five minutes before the bell rings, instruct students to finish
their storyboards for homework, which is to be turned in at
the beginning of the following class period. Those with
incomplete storyboards will not be issued a computer in the
next class period.
