The MEYER MESSENGER

November 23, 2015

Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
As we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one,
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. -Matthew 6:9-13
Dear Parents & Students,
As we head into this Thanksgiving week, our focus is turning to the final line of the Lords Prayer. We are so lucky to
have a time of year where we are truly able to slow down and thank God for everything He has blessed us with. It is so
easy for us to get caught up in the crazy routine of life and overlook the countless blessings constantly surrounding us.
The Lords Prayer allows us to praise our awesome God and promise our glory given to him forever. Blessings in our lives
overflow in abundance and they are all because of Him.
School Announcements:
-Parent Teacher Conferences: Conferences will be held on Monday, November 24 from 4:00-8:30 and Tuesday,
November 25 4:00-8:30. Flip page to CHECK the final schedule.
-Opportunity for Giving: The 2nd grade will be partnering with Good Samaritan Ministries for Christmas! We will be
putting together a Christmas laundry basket filled with home necessities. You will hear more about this when you come
for conferences.
-Thanksgiving Chapel: Tuesday, November 24
-Thanksgiving Break: November 25-27
Classroom News:
-Math: We will be exploring shapes this week! Squares, rectangles, triangles, and quadrilaterals, OH MY!
-Bible: The Lords Prayer unit will be wrapped up this week as we turn our focus to the last line of praising our great Lord
forever.
-Science: Our second graders had a GREAT conversation last week sharing their knowledge with us about bodies of
water! They were extremely fired up to share their knowledge on the water treatment process! It was such a fun
environment to observe the spark these students had and questions they developed about water! We will continue to
discuss the path of rain and how rain contributes to our bodies of water on earth.
-Language Arts: Our Book of the Month for November is Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet. Each student has
had the opportunity to read the book independently throughout the month, and on Tuesday, we will have a whole class
read aloud and celebrate this book! There may or may not be a few balloons floating around the classroom to bring the
book to life We have two poems this week, including Point of View and Thank Someone. In Writers Workshop, we
will continue to talk about what revision looks like when we work with partners!
Blessings,

Miss Sommerville & Mr. Meyer
