Now a days, floriculture has become

an important activity in agriculture.
Floriculture activity can be defined
as production and marketing of
flowering plants, green bedding
plants, cut flower and greens under
controlled condition mainly for
export.
The production of floriculture is
growing by 8 to 10 % per year.
There are nearly 120 countries
which are active in floriculture
industry.

Indian floriculture industry

India has an ancient heritage when in comes

to floriculture. Commercial floriculture however
is of recent origin.

A consistent increase in demand for cut flower

has made floriculture an important commercial
trades in Indian agriculture.

Indias floriculture is likely to cross Rs. 8000

crore mark by 2015.

Nearly 77% area under floriculture crop is

concentrated in 7 states Tamilnadu,
Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal
Haryana, Utter Pradesh and Delhi.

India is a big emerging market. Looking

towards the demand and supply of flowers,
better implementation and good management
should be there for maximum production.
