***The big five model:

Lack of supporting evidences of MBTI, led to this big 5 models. This


supports 5 basic dimension they are:-

1. Extroversion

2. Agreeableness

3. Emotional stability

4. Open to experience

5. Conciseness

1. Extroversion: - This is the personality dimension describing someone who is


sociable and assertive.

2. Agreeableness: - These personalities dimension someone who is good nature,


co-operative and trusting. Highly agreeable people are co-operative, warm and
trusting.

3. Emotional stability: - These dimensions measure the person’s ability to


withstand stress. People with high score will be calm, self confident and secure.

4. Openness to experience: - This dimension addresses individual’s range of


interest and fascination with novelty. Extremely open people are creative, curious,
and sensitive.

5. Consciousness: - This personality dimension describes those characters of an


individual’s who is responsible, defendable, persistent and organized.

* Locus of Control: - Persons, perceptions of the source of their face is termed as


locus of control.

The categories of people who believe that they are the master of their field and
believe that they control what happened to them are classified as internals.

The other categories of people who believe that their lives are being control by
outside focus and they believe that whatever happens to them is due to luck or
chance are classified as externals.

Various researches on externals & internals have concluded the following:-

Externals less satisfied with their job, have higher abstention rates and are less
involved on their jobs.

Externals are more dissatisfied because they have little control over the
organizational outcomes

Externals are more suited to jobs that are well structured in which success depends
with the direction of others.

Internals exhibits more motivation and willingness to take actions for their
improvements

Internals do well on sophisticated task including managerial, professional jobs that


requires complex information processing and learning.

Externals are most suited to jobs that required initiative and independence of
actions.

*** Machiavellianism: -

This character was identified by Niccole Machiavelli during 16th century. It the
degree to which an individual is programmatic and maintains emotional distance

People with high mach manipulate more and with more.

High Mach: - Will flow under 3 situations

1. When they interacts face to face to other

*** Self Esteem :-

It is the individual degree of the liking & disliking nature.

High self esteem individuals that they possess the ability they need to succeed at
work, they take more risk in job selection and choose unconventional job and they
are more satisfied

Low esteem people are more susceptible to external influences and they depend on
others.

*** Self Monitoring:-

It measures an individual ability to adjust his/her behavior to external, situation


factors people with high esteem sure considerable adoptability in adjusting their
behavior to external situation factors and they can behave differently in different
situation. They pay closer attention to the behavior the receive better performance
rating and more promotions. They merge as leaders an occupied central position in
the organization. They are more successful in managerial position where multiple,
contradicting rules are to be followed.

*** Risk Taking: - People differ in their willingness to take chances. High risk
taking managers make more rapid decisions and use less information in making
their choice than low risk taking managers.

Ex: - High risk taking propensity lies to more effective performance in case of
stock trader in a brokerage firm because this job needs rapid decision making.

An accountant performing auditing activity is suitable for low risk taking individual.

*** Type A Personality:- A person with this type of personality is aggressively


involved in a chronic and struggle to achieve more and more in less & less time, if
required to do so, against the opposite effort of other things or other persons.

The several characteristics:-

They are always moving, walking and eating rapidly.

They feel important with the rate at which most events take place.

They stripe to think or to do all things at once.

*** Type B Personality:- Type B's are rarely hurried by the desire to obtain a
widely increasing no of things in and endless growing series of evened in and every
decreasing amount of time.

Type B personality is a contrast with type A and their characteristics is acutely


opposite of type A.

The characteristic B is they will never suffer from a sense of time emergence.

They feel that there is no need to display or discuss their achievements unless such
expose is demanded by the situations.

They play for fun and relaxation.

They can relax for a long time without guilt.

*** Pro-Active Personality:-

It is the in which an individual identify opportunity show initiative and take actions.
