Grading Policy: All students grades are changeable, after a final critique students
can take the ideas from critique and further work on and improve their piece.
Students always have the ability to improve and work on passed projects. They
however still must work on whatever the current project is in class during class,
they can work on their prior piece after class or during free time. As for late work,
(if the student does not advocate or ask for extra time to finish their
piece) every day that the work is late I will deduct half a letter grade.
Number of absences and lack of participation in group critiques will also affect the
students overall grade.

Dear Parents
Hello! I am so excited to have your student in my Art class. Fundamentally, I believe
that all students have the ability to be successful in the art classroom under the
philosophy that teaching is about relationships, interactions and making
connections. When a student says, I cant do that, Im not creative like them, or, I
cant even draw a stick figure, I want to show them that they can be creative, that
their ideas have worth, and that art is a practiced skillnot necessarily just a talent.
Every great artist started out drawing scribbles. It takes practice, time and
determination to be able to paint the Mona Lisa! We can work together to insure
that your student is successful in the art classroom. I will send weekly updates of
grades, progress and the link to our class page where students will post or blog their
artwork and projects so that you can see what we are doing If you have any
questions or concerns you can contact me by email at rngordo@aol.com
