Subject: Research Proposal, researching graphic/art designers

Objective:
My goal is to use the educational background of the graphic, art, and design
field, to discover the similarities and differences between the graphic and
design field in the United Kingdom to the graphic, art, and design field in the
United States. To accomplish this, I will explore the following questions:

How is the design field in the United Kingdom compared with the

design field in the United States?

What are some strategies that British designers use in the field of work

to make their career goals a success?

What are some strategies that American designers use in their field of
work to make their career success?

I will use the background history of Graphic/Art design to discover the

differences and similarities of the British and American designers and their
artistic work. I will explore the specific topics of Graphic/Art design and
discuss different strategies the designers use to be successful in their
designing careers.

Discussion of Topic:

The Research topic matters to me because its what I want to do with my life is to be an
designer of some sort, Im still trying to figure out what kind of designer currently, but I
do know design it what I what my future career to be involved in. So, I think this topic is
great for undergraduate freshman like myself to learn more about what they may not

know in the graphic, art and design field.

I feel I have the right to write about this topic because, I dont see why I couldnt write
about what I love to do the most and I dont see why others that are also interested in the
art and design field of work couldnt do the exact same. We all have the right to express
how will feel about our interests and what we want to do with them for a future career.

Working Thesis:
As undergraduate freshman, we can discover that the American and British
graphic/Art designers are both capable of using their artistic skills and
abilities such as graphics, Art, or advertising design to inspire any
undergraduate freshman interested in this particular field of work.

creativity and that loves to be involved in the art and design field of work.
2. American graphic designer- Svendsen main purpose throughout the interview was to
explain that design can offer many opportunities towards a great career, one who keeps

design industry.
3. History of British design- MacCarthy main purpose of this article was to give a small
summary of what exactly inspired the British Industry to keep graphic design alive in
their specific culture. After analyzing this information, I can come to a conclusion that the

learn some background information of how the British design culture all began, what
inspired the Britains, and how the British design culture made it to the top of the design
Industry.
4. History of American design- The main focus or purpose for this particular article is for
anyone whos interested in the history of the graphic design field, and to give a brief

particular source of information, it seems this topic is being directed to an audience who
are wanting to actually be graphic/art designers because as a graphic designer, one should
know the basic forms of what graphic design is and what youll need to pursue your
career goals in the design industry.
6. Topic purpose- The overall purpose of researching this topic was to discover what one
may not know about the graphic design field or graphic designers inspirations of
becoming a designer. This research topic matters to me because becoming a designer of
some sort is my lifelong dream and now that Ive discovered and learned facts that I
probably didnt know about the design field, I can take this particular information and
apply it to my own future career life and goals. The audience of undergraduate freshman
also can take this same exact information and apply it to their lives as well, only if
graphic/art design is the career field that they plan to pursue as a career goal in the future.
