Reaganomics (slides 10-19 on Google

Pose pertinent questions and ask the
students to make an educated guess as to
how these economic policies effected the
nation and politics, then and now
After finishing the notes and allowing
students to ask/answer questions, divide
students into groups with their assigned
top 11 president (do not tell students
where scholars rank the president they
have been assigned)
Explain the next assignment -> Research
your president with your group and come
up with an argument as to why he
deserves to be ranked as the best president
in US History, argument should be
presented as a Google Slides presentation
and will be presented during the next class
period

Tell the students that they have the

remainder of the period to prep for
tomorrows debate and anything that they
have not finished must be done for
homework

Students ask questions on material

covered (if they have questions)
Students answer questions posed and
make an educated guess based on their
reflection and their own grappling of the
material

Students listen to directions for the

assignment and then work in their groups
prepping for the following days debate

- Students use the remainder of the class period to

work on their Google Slides presentation to argue
reasons why their president is the best in American
History

Your reflection about the lesson, including evidence(s) of student learning and engagement, as well as ideas for improvement
for next time. (Write this after teaching the lesson, if you had a chance to teach it. If you did not teach this lesson, focus on the
process of preparing the lesson.)
This lesson went fairly well. Reaganomics is a topic that, to this day remains controversial, so much of the students interests
were peaked as we talked about this topic (whether is was because they bought into the policies, or because they saw its faults
and worried what effects it had on the lower classes of society). In the future, I would do a better job prefacing that this is a
very political issue that can illicit strong opinions and that it is ok to disagree, but we should do it respectfully.
