Help plan a new suburb

The ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) has
started planning for the new Gungahlin suburb of
Kenny, where land release is scheduled to begin in
2012-13.

You can contribute to Kenny’s planning by attending

a community information and workshop session on
18 May 2010. Everyone with an interest in Kenny
is invited to attend. You will be able to discuss the
issues you think need to be addressed in planning for
Kenny with consultants and ACTPLA staff.

At the workshop you will be able to:

• speak with consultants and ACTPLA staff about
how planning for Kenny will progress
• have your say on what’s important to you about
Kenny
• discuss the possible affects of the development
on nearby suburbs.
The workshop is part of a study by consultants
employed by ACTPLA. They are assessing Kenny’s
community and recreation needs; bushfire risk;
traffic and transport needs; geology (as it will affect
development); infrastructure (including water,
sewer, gas, electricity and telecommunications);
stormwater and environmental considerations.

A 2008 structure plan for East Gungahlin proposes

that Kenny will include a commercial centre,
community facilities and government primary
school.

ACTPLA wants to involve the community early

in decisions affecting Kenny so that matters of
importance to the community are included in the
study and the future suburb meets community
aspirations and needs. The study’s findings will help
decide what will be in Kenny’s concept plan, which
will set out specific planning requirements for the
suburb. Community consultation on the concept
plan will be held later in 2010.
