Midterm Essay

In my midterm paper, I have chosen four of my daybook assignments

to write about and share how they have made me a better writer and critical
thinker throughout the semester so far. The first assignment I chose is the
Prousts Questionnaire, I also had chosen the second half of this
assignment to write about which was Prousts Questionnaire Extended, my
third assignment, This I believe Responses, and lastly my Slam Poem.
I chose the Prousts Questionnaire because I really enjoyed this
assignment. This assignment was also the very first entry in my daybook.
The reason why I liked this assignment so much is because it asked me
questions about myself and others that I never really had thought about
before. For example How would I like to die? or What trait to I value most
in others? It made me really think about the answers I was giving. I liked
that this assignment showed me how to think critically while learning
something new about myself and others.
The next assignment I had chosen was the Prousts Questionnaire
Extended. This was the second half of the assignment given to the class. In
this daybook entry, I had to pick five of the thirty questions that were asked

about myself to write more in depth about. This assignment showed me that
I need to be able to think critically in this course and use it in the essays I
was to eventually write. I used this skill throughout all my writing pieces
whether it was my daybook entries or any of my research papers.
Thirdly, I chose my This I Believe Responses to write about. I very
much enjoyed my time reading about all the different This I Believe
Proclamations. I found the proclamations to be extremely interesting
learning about the unique things and ideas that some people treasure in
their life. In the responses I was allowed to read different proclamations and
write about them whether I agreed or disagreed with them. Most
proclamations I did agree with like how Music can save lives. I did not
agree with an essay I read by a married women who wrote Its okay to
settle because in my personal opinion, it is never okay to settle in your life. I
was able to create my own thoughts and ideas on a topic on this assignment
and it was an eye opener reading about different This I Believe
proclamations.
Lastly, I chose to write about my Slam Poem that I had written in my
daybook. Personally, I do not like poems or writing them because it is
extremely hard for me to understand them. After the class watched the
videos of different slam poems, my attitude towards writing one had
changed. I was very nervous reading mine to the class but I also liked
listening to my peers and what they chose to write about. I chose to write
mine about growing up, others had chosen to write about beauty,

stereotypes, or their families. It was good to hear all the different things my
peers had chosen to talk about because I think it reflects who you are.
