Final Project: Creating an Ecosystem

A project we will be doing is creating a near complete ecosystem that can be used
as an educational tool, using animals commonly found in a special vernal pool.

We will hatch 9 different species out of eggs and raise them. We will also make
their habitats, and a school vernal pool display pond. After several months, they
will be housed and given to educators around the country. The ecosystems will be
designed to provide almost no care needed, and as a model ecosystem (Several
species shrimp eats the algae, which grows from sunlight. Larger shrimp eats that
shrimp, etc.)

The tanks in the media center are set up for this purpose.. In addition to shrimp,
we will raise algae as their food.

We will get the shrimp eggs this week. At the next meeting, you can volunteer to
help hatch the shrimp eggs and set up addition tanks with David B. and William Di.
