Reynolds article is about how exercise helps not only animals memory but humans as
well. They go on to show how the different experiments in humans and animals confirm the link
between exercise and cognitive growth. In one experiment it showed how the mice that would
run on the wheel would have a better memory than the mice that werent running on the wheel.
The purpose of this article is to show how exercise can help different brain functions to improve
ones memory.
This article links to my topic very well because of what the two different experiments are
showing. Even though they do the experiments on mice and elderly people it can still link to
people of all ages. If college students exercised more and their memory improved it could help
them study better and remember things easier that were said in class. Reynolds does a great job
of explaining how the links are made between the brain and exercise.
I think this is a credible source because New York Times is very well known. They have
web articles, a magazine, and an app. New York Times is known for the many different articles.

The author of the article is very well know herself, she has been writing about fitness for a little
over a decade and has written for many other well-known magazines.

Godman starts out talking about all the many reasons people would like to exercise, then
points out a fact that many people dont know about. She talks about how, like her, peoples
memories start to fade and how exercise might be able to help that. There is not any exact
exercise that is supposed to work better but she gives the recommended amount of time to
exercise each week to help with memory. Her article is very informative on why and how
exercise can help the brain out. At the end, she gives some tips on what to do as far as exercising
and trying it out.
This article is very short and to the point, it gives out a lot of information that supports
my topic. College students stress a lot during the day and its not good for them or their futures.
Not only can exercise help their memories but it can help with the stressful lives they lead. This
article shows that exercise can be a key to success while in college and hopefully after college as
well. Even though this article is more pointed in the direction of elderly people it can also have
some facts that would help the younger population as well, which is very helpful for my topic.
The main thing that really shows me this is a credible source is that it has an .edu. Not
only does the website have the education handle but it is Harvard Medical School, one of the top
schools. Also, the author of the article is the Executive Editor of the Harvard Health Letter. This
is a very credible source, with the .edu, its coming from a medical school and its written by a
credible author.

This video is very informative towards college students and many adults. It includes
information from a college professor who is a neuroscientist. She performed her own study on
the students in one of her undergraduate classes at New York University. She tested the students
on memorization before and after aerobic exercise, and the results increased after every class
once a week. She talks about how exercise helps the brain and all the many ways you can see
yourself improve with many other things other than your memory.
This source is the one I got most of my information from, just because it has many facts
about how exercise works on the brain. My main focus for my topic is on college students, and
this video talked a lot about how it helps us. It helps too that there is a study she did on her
students in college. This video works very well with my topic because it teaches me different
approaches to take on how exercise can help the brain. Not only with memorization but also
attention and mood which are big contenders for college students. This video has many facts
about the statistics of the brain and exercise as well as the way it changes the brain.
At first, I didnt think this source was going to be credible because you cant always
believe the stuff you hear on the news. Well after I found out it was an interview done with
neuroscientist doctor, I knew it had to be okay. She conducted her own research on the topic and
wrote a book about it. Fox News is also one the more credible news shows along with it being in
the health section of the Fox News.

The peer-reviewed article talks mostly about how childrens brains and physical health. If
we dont get the right amount or kind of exercise as children we wont have good learning
abilities. The article talks about how there are different kinds of activities children can do they
will trigger different part of the brain. The article has many science-based experiments included
in with the many different facts about how physical activity plays a vital role in a childs
cognition.
This article works well with my topic because well we all start out as children and if we
start out young getting the physical activity needed for brains we could end up making healthy
habits. If children can figure out that exercise is helping them in school and keeps it a positive
thing hopefully they can carry that with them the rest of their lives. There are some children that
dont get the right kind of exercise so young, even if it took them all the way to college to grasp
that concept, they can still start trying out the new technique.
The credibility of this source is it is peer reviewed, it is out of Human Kinetics
Commentary, and the source has it sources cited everywhere in the paper. The source also has
many different experiments explained throughout the article. I found the article on the UNCC
libraries search, and I know the library wouldnt carry anything that wouldnt be credible for
students to research.

This book has many different concepts so I chose just to focus in on the main concept in the first
part and chapter. It puts together the relationship exercise has with our well-being. Exercise plays

a major role in our health, and without the right kind of exercise or any at all our health can be in
danger. It also talks about how there can be many things that will increase our physical activity
then, in turn, will improve our well-being and mental health. We have to be in the right
environment to want to engage in physical activity, and without that environment, our mental
health is in danger.
I picked this book because our mental health is very hard to keep in check while in
college. You hear a lot about college students binge drinking, which can lead to many life
altering choices. I think college students look to drink because our brains need a break, and
drinking gives us that relaxed feeling. Exercise helps out our brains and gives us that break that
we really need and helps us keep up with our mental health.
This is a credible source because there are many different sections to the book with many
different authors putting together one topic. Not only that, but it has many different sources, the
authors got their information from. The source is very credible because almost all the authors of
the book have Ph.D.s and are very reliable authors.
