Essential Question: How are the possibilities of embryotic and adult stem cell research changing
the medical field?
Working Thesis: Embryotic and Adult stem cell research and application can aid in many
medical issues of today.
Refined Thesis: Patients with severe diseases and even missing limbs can benefit greatly from
the underdeveloped science of stem cells.

The article Stem Cell Research Provides Cures for Diseases discusses the
possibilities that stem cells have to offer in the medical field, also cure and heal people with
serious medical problems. Scientist hope one day that embryotic stem cells may be used to treat
disease such as multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and stroke, as well as neurodegenerative disorders
such as Parkinsons and Alzheimers. It is thought that stem cell transplants could help halt or
reverse Parkinsons by increasing the supply with new healthy cells. Stem cells have not been

fully explored because the lack of funds it receives. Only just recently did the federal legislation
grant research funds. This article is relevant to the research because it show the countless
possibilities stem cells have to offer the medical world. Nasty and hard to deal with diseases
could be cured by this and save many peoples families from the agony of mental health loss as
well as cut off limbs or bad blood.

The article Most Americans Support Funding for Embryotic Stem Cell
Research explains how Americans and how the president view embryotic stem cells. The
president of the United States explained that this new research offers promising path of scientific
discovery. He also states that people should support this science that is offering life-saving
treatments. This painstaking and costly research needs all the attention it can get. As well as
support form the American people and research groups. This article is relevant to the research
because it shows how this field has an endless amount of possibilities but cant get there without
the support and help of others.

The article Stem Cells: An Overview gives an understanding and science to
how stem cells work. What is a stem cell you ask? A stem cell is a specialized cell that can
reproduce or create any cell in your body whether it is embryotic or adult. Scientist is trying to
use these cells to replace lost or damaged cells. Embryotic stem cells, which can be derived from
the very early stages in human development, have the potential to produce all of the bodys. This
makes it super important to the medical field if we can use and harness the unique characteristic
of embryotic stem cells. Adult stem cells, which are only found in the tissues of fully developed
humans, can be used to create or generate various blood types and is actually in use today for
bone-marrow transplants. This article is relevant to my research because it shows the unique
ways and characteristics of stem cell, as well as the main properties that allow these cells to be
important to eh medical field.
