Bricks are very important when it comes to construction and building, but
who could ever think that they cause harm to the earth. Fired clay Brick is one of
the most important building materials in the country. The current annual brick
production in the country is estimated at 140 billion bricks just in 2001 alone. With
more houses being built and more bricks being produced its confusing to see how
bricks cause pollution. The very first bricks were mud bricks but they werent as
durable, then later came clay bricks and now theres a wide variety of bricks.
Bricks are solid piece of dried up clay or mud with sand compressed and
cooked, the part that causes pollution is the cooking of the brick. Pollution affects
everyone not just humans, such as vegetation and animals, Pollution is mainly
caused by harmful gases thrown in the air by heavy coal industries and many
mining camps. Brick making companies contribute to more than youd expect, they
toss large quantities of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere but thats not it, other
gases such as Sulphur Oxides, Hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, SPM in the
flue gases. Air pollution has become a serious environmental stress to crop plants
due to increasing industrialization and urbanization during the last few decades.
There are actually many alternatives to this however companies arent willing to
change because of the large profit/income they receive selling bricks.
Kiln bricks are pronounced with the n silent meaning kill bricks, they are
undoubtedly harmful because the emissions, when humans inhale it, it is extremely
carcinogenic, announced by the U.S. safety and health inspections. When
something carcinogenic is being produced large safety rules are place but many
brick making companies have the worst function and structure in rules, they have
the dirtiest cleaning facility.
It becomes clear that brick kiln emissions, urbanization and transportation
are playing the leading role in deteriorating the environment in respect of air
pollution, human health problems and decrease of crop production. This will also
lead to global warming. Meaning, concluded that ambient air pollution due to brick
kilns in the rural areas is a real problem to human health and vegetation. Brick
making will not stop in the U.S. but its emissions a=can be controlled with better
equipment and if scientist find a way to break down those emissions to be less
harmful. Radio waves can pass through brick but light cannot. Any waves can pass
through without any reflecting back like an open window.
