Job Offer

HOPES - Higher and Further Education Opportunities and Perspectives for Syrians is a
European Commission (EC) funded Higher Education project which aims to increase
participation and provide better access to quality further and higher education opportunities
in the neighbouring region for young vulnerable Syrians. The project also aims to help
vulnerable youth within host communities, in order to improve their prospects in the shortterm and, in the longer term, to contribute to the preparation for post-crisis reconstruction of
Syria. The project will be implemented in Egypt, Northern Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey
which are countries particularly affected by the Syrian crisis and the influx of Syrian refugees.
The HOPES office in Amman announces the position of a full-time (40 hrs/week) Project
Management Unit Manager to be filled starting from 15 June 2016. The post holder will be
providing technical and administrative support to the Project Director. This includes the
management of the project office in Amman (office organisation, book keeping, data
management). The post holder will closely cooperate with the PMU Support unit based at
DAAD headquarters in Bonn and will also be providing support to the other work packages of
the project, i.e. external communication, call for proposals and English Access Programme.
The post holder will contribute to project design and shaping of targets/milestones. He/she
will be expected to communicate effectively and efficiently with the target group and local
partners, and to deal with day-to-day delivery issues.
The contract will be limited to one year but might be extended until the project end in
November 2019. The working conditions underlie Jordanian law.
Requirements:
University degree (min. Bachelor`s degree, preferably Master`s degree)
Native proficiency in Arabic and excellent command of English with an ability to translate
into both languages
Experience in office management incl. administration of finances for several years
Very good database management and IT skills (Microsoft Office)
Excellent communication and organisational skills, intercultural competence, reliability
and resilience
