Dear Parents/Guardians:
Hello! My name is Xiaojie Zhang. Ill be teaching your child AP Calculus BC course this year. I am looking
forward to having your child in my class. This course is equivalent to a typical second semester college Calculus
course. Students may receive college credit by taking and passing the Advanced Placement Exam. My goal this year is
to prepare students to be successful on the AP Calculus BC exam. To achieve this goal, students will gain a thorough
understanding of the topics covered in the course outline. As a professional educator, I believe that every child can
learn and can achieve his or her fullest potential. I will help my students to do their best.
This year we will use two textbooks: 1) Calculus-Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic, Third Edition by Finney,
Demana, Waits, and Kennedy, published by Person Prentice Hall; 2) Calculus of A Single Variable, Seventh
Edition by Ron Larson and Bruce Edwards. I have a course outline for this course. I also have a set of policies for
this course, which include grading, discipline, and classroom procedures. Im not going to make copies of all these
documents to save papers for the school. Instead, I put them online in my homepage at
https://sites.google.com/site/xzhangmathatskylinehs/. Please read them online and have your child return the following
signed slip to me. Also, we will have a Back-To-School night. Please check the school calendar and plan to come on
that day. I will explain these policies at Back-To-School night.
As you have known, the Report Card is a very traditional and important way of communicating on our
students performance at school. But, YOU DONT HAVE TO WAIT FOR A REPORT CARD TO KNOW YOUR
CHILDS GRADE IN THIS CLASS! YOU CAN MONITOR STUDENTS ACADEMIC PROGRESS ANY TIME ON
ABI. I normally update grade book online every day. So, check grade together with your child as often as you can so

that you are able to help me to solve whatever problems that may have affected your childs grade promptly. My email
address and phone number are on my homepage, too. Please contact me if you have any concerns and questions.
School has started. I want our students to get the materials needed for this class soon. Please read the list of
supplies needed in the documents posted online and help our students get all the items they will need. Thank you!
