Our first extraction mission has been a glaring success. We have rescued
over fifty survivors that managed to resist the Quelling. I cannot say what
makes these individuals special, as they seem to hail from a myriad of
backgrounds and disciplines. Regardless, we need every human being that is
resistant to these malicious forces should they spread across the Earth
completely.

It has been some time since I took the time to make an entry in this book- I
often feel that it may have been a pointless, sentimental gesture to buy it in
the first place. Survivors grow more and more scarce with every return trip,
and the husks that were once human beings seem to be waiting for us each
time we dock. I have suggested to Alexander that we select a new docking
area and double our efforts to assert ourselves on electronic media so that all
who are paying attention may realize we exist.

The turn of a new year used to be something to relish and celebrate, but each
passing day seems more grim in this doomed world. Dr. Rice says he cannot
fathom what forces could've caused the Quelling, but his hesitance to speak
on the subject makes me fear that he may have repressed such answers
during his time in the sanitorium, and terrible truths are lurking in the corners
of his subconscious. What horrors did the doctor witness on that barren
planet that could shatter such a brilliant mind?

I am loathe to leave Alexandria behind again, . Part of me can't help but
wonder if anyone will be waiting for us this time, or if we will find only husks
and death among the ruins of the American Empire. Even if we find more
survivors, I fear this will be our last trip. Alexander has been growing more
and more obsessed with the faith of our brothers and sisters, and toils
endlessly in the Trex facility to find a cure for the effects of the Quelling.
Though he is brilliant, Alexander cannot fight such catastrophic change alone.
He must learn to leave such troubling questions in the hands of the Lord.

The Quelling has woken terrible things beneath the waters of the Atlantic . It

is too late to turn back at this point, but I fear we may never see Alexandria
again.

Back on our way to Alexandria. The Gibraltar strait lies ahead, and as much
as I hate to admit it, I'm still afraid of encountering that demonic presence
again. Logic states that such things should not exist, but I cannot forget what
came from the water off the coast of Spain.
