Allow me to thank the people first behind the success of being here at NMDC and for making
our OJT a possible one.
First and foremost, I would like to thank God for his infinite love and guidance throughout my
practicum. For giving me the strength and knowledge so I have completed my practicum hours.
To North Matrix Development corporation for the support and permission to render my On-thejob training to their Company. And to all staff of North Matrix Development Corporation who
had played a major part in the acquisition of my training, for imparting their skills, knowledge,
and for treating me not as an employee but as a part of their family.
A word of appreciation to Mr. Roger Cuaresma and Mr. Rudy Manuel, our foreman, for the
knowledge, support, and for those inspirational words that he had shared with us.
Thank you for believing in my skills and capabilities. Especially to my loving family who had
been a big part of this endeavor, for giving me the courage to do what I need to. For all the
hardships, patience, love and support. Thank you for always being there for me.
To my co-trainees for helping me to face this challenge. For giving me the knowledge, technique

II. INTRODUCTION

On the job training is one way by which we students are given an opportunity to apply the
theories and computations that we have learned from school. It also helps us to obtain applicable
knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require
their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the
curriculum.
For us students, an OJT program provides opportunities to go through the actual methodologies
of a specific job using the real tools, equipment, and documents. In effect, the work place
becomes a development venue for us student trainee to learn more about our chosen field and
practice what we have learn from academy.
On the other hand, a valuable OJT program also profits the companies who accept trainees. First
OJT or intern provides extra manpower for a less significant labor cost than a regular employee.
Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that theyll be given a chance to
work on the same company as an employee after graduating.
Employers can use this internship strategy as method in recruiting employees. Since the trainer
or supervisor can follow the trainees progress, he can gauge based on performance, behavior and
attitude if the trainee will make good recruit after the completion of his internship.
We trainees can bring fresh ideas into the organization. Given the opportunity to converse our
minds freely and without fear, we may be able to contribute significantly in brainstorming
sessions or research and eventually help improve the organizations productivity.
While training the interns, employers are in fact also teach their employees to guide the trainees
by stretching their patience, develop teaching skills and make them more sensitive to the needs
and mind set of the younger generation. The course of supervision also teaches them how to
share what they know and be receptive to questions. Hence, the internship also becomes an
avenue in training for future managers of the company.

III. THE NARRATIVE


SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENT:

April 13, 2015 was the start of our OJT in North Matrix Development Corporation (NMDC) and
in there we dont have specific task to be done. It depends on the instruction or the decision of
our foreman.
In the duration of our OJT one great accomplishment Ive done is that I learned how to install
house wiring connections through the influence of my co-practicum students. I learn the line-toline and line-to-ground wiring connections together with sizes of conductors use starting from
the service entrance which has a conductor size of 5.5 mm (2.6 mm) going to the panel board
where the circuit breakers are being installed going to the junction box until the convenience
outlet which has a conductor size of 3.5mm (2.0 mm) and then the conductor size used for the
lighting outlet and switch is 2.0mm (1.6 mm).
But North Matrix development Corporation is specialized in any electrical works like house
wiring installation, constructing distribution line and the like. So at the start of our OJT our first
project site is located at Capacuan, Rizal Cagayan wherein we are to construct a single phase
distribution line and install house wiring connections in every houses there.
So before going to the project site the first thing we do is delivering the materials needed for the
construction of the distribution line and materials needed for the house wiring installation like
distribution pole, conductors of any sizes, transformer, fuse cutout, circuit breakers, switches,
panel board and the like. And after two weeks I think were done in that project. And our second
project site was located at Lapi, Penablanca Cagayan wherein we are also going to construct
single phase distribution line and installing house wiring connections which is same through with
project weve done at Rizal, Cagayan.

ACCOMPLISHMENT:

In our stay at the project site Ive notice a big difference between what our professor taught us in
academe and the way we are in the actual work setting. Just like in our subject in the previous

semester which is the Elective 1 which focuses on the planning and designing of distribution
line.
Especially in the naming of materials to be installed in every erected poles because what I know
in the book weve been based our design is let say we know the name of the materials but when
we are in the actual installing of the materials we dont know the name of that material to be
installed even the sizes of conductor, sizes of bolts and nut, insulators to be used and the like.
That is why having an internship or OJT is a big help for every student like me. So as our OJT
goes by Ive accomplished many things just like when we are in the process of what they called
service dropping wherein we are install service drop wire of every house and installing single
phase watthour meter.
I learn how to connect single phase single phase watthour meter from line to load. And also one
thing I proudly to say is that when we are doing the house wiring installation and what type of
connections to be done on every houses like line to line and line to ground is that I learned them
from my co- practicum students.

CONCLUSION:
I therefore conclude that having an internship or OJT program plays a vital role by which we
students given a chance to explore more about our profession and apply what weve learn in the
academe in the actual work setting.
