• Apply motivational strategies and techniques to enhance commitment to
change

• Utilize a decisional balance exercise to assess ambivalence to change

• Use scaling tools including the readiness ruler to evaluate and promote change

• Utilize advice/feedback in a motivationally enhancing manner
