TBC Remarks (24 Apr 2013)

With reference to our previous response, the
present design provides capacity ratios that
are more than adequate. We do not
understand your request to further increase
the reinforcement quantity. Please provide the
technical reasoning behind this request.

bottom sections are almost 1,50 2,00 times greater
than required. Chosen number of reinforcement bars,
minimum 6,67 cm clear space is provided between
longitudinal bars to allow reliable concrete pouring
during site work If number of longitudinal bars are
increased to 6 instead of 4 clear space between bars will
be only 3 cm and there will be no gap at overlapping
sections. So it will be a must to put bars at 2 layers to be
able to pour concrete. Finally we would like to inform you
that there is no technical reason to increase number of
bars from 4 to 6 which will cause concrete pouring
problems during site work.

With reference to our previous response, the

present design provides capacity ratios that
are more than adequate. We do not
understand your request to further increase
the reinforcement quantity. Please provide the
technical reasoning behind this request.

- Change reinforcement of link beams from 3 16 T&B to 416 Average capacity ratio of link beams for chosen RC bars Use 416 T&B
T&B
is almost 60%. So chosen RC areas are quite enough to
meet forces. Clear space between bars is almost 9 cm
and enough for reliable pouring concrete. By increasing
number of bars, capacity ratio will decrease to almost
40%. Decreasing the clear space between bars from 9
cm to 5,5 cm causes difficulty during the concrete
pouring.

As stated in our previous letter we would like
to repeat that;
Water stop is used at water
proof structures such as water tanks or any
other kind of structure that contains liquids
where there will be severe effect of liquid and
may result leakage problems. Here, we would
like to inform you that we will use asphalt
bitumen at all outlet surface of walls and raft

protect concrete against environmental

Therefore, we do not see any technical

necessity for use of water stops with this
structure. We kindly request removal of this
comment or provision of further clarification
on other technical reasons for use of water
stops.
