Franciscan Reflection
The Lord manifests Himself to
those who stop for some time in
peace and humility of heart. If
you look in murky and
turbulent waters, you cannot
see the reflection of your face.
If you want to see the face of
Christ, stop and collect your
thoughts in silence, and close
thedoor of your soul to the
noise of external things.
-St Anthony of Padua

In todays Gospel we are challenged by

Jesus words of accepting our crosses.
Each of us carries some burdens in
our lives. For some its financial; or
relationships; perhaps medical; or
simply the normal worries of our everyday living. How do we embrace these
crosses? Do we REALLY know that we are not alone?
The One who has carried the Cross to Calvary surely
understands what we are carrying. True Discipleship,
he tells us, is when we unite these crosses in following
Him. Look around you in church, or at home, or even
in the neighborhood you live see the crosses of others and learn from them.
Another idea within the Gospel this week is that Jesus
is praying by himself. In this season of summer will
you be able to take some extra time to pray alone?
Have you ever thought about the possibility of a personal retreat? Not just a vacation, but time away to
listen to what God is speaking to you about yourself
and your life.
Today we honor the great dads in our lives; the ones
who are in Heaven; and the many that have to act like
dads. Let us pray, through the intercession of St. Joseph that these persons will have Gods abundant graces. Pray for me, as well, that in my fatherly role as
shepherd of this church, I may be given strength from
God, wisdom from so many examples of fathers, and
the peace of the Good Shepherd.

LIVE JESUS IN OUR HEARTS, FOREVER!

As Summer approaches
Please remember to keep our
parish family in your prayers as
summer vacations get underway.
Pray for the safety of our children
as they enjoy the freedom that
comes with school free days as well as our families
who may be traveling during this time.
May you have a good journey, and God be with
you in your way, and his angel accompany
you. (Tobit 5:22)

During the summer, please dont fall away from the joy
of coming to Mass. The church community is affected,
as well as the finances of the church. Perhaps you
should rethink this and join the others who make their
offerings online by visiting our website at
GoodShepherdANCC.org and going to the Support
Page. Your offering should be one of thoughtful
sacrifice and not immediacy. We are grateful for
whatever you can do to help!
Have you considered mentioning the Parish in your
Will?
