TheAsiaticHybridsarisefromthecrossingsofanumberofspeciescommonlyfoundinAsia.The
leavesareoftenlancelikeandborneindensewhorlsonuprightstems.Theflowerstendtobelarge,
colourfulandfaintlyorunscented.Orientalsarecharacterizedbylarge(68")highlyfragrantred,
purple,pink,orwhiteflowers.Asiaticshavesmallerblooms(34")withnofragranceandareavailablein
brightshadesofgold,yellow,orange,rose,pinkandwhite.Asiatichybridsaregenerallyearlyflowering,
mostvarietiesbloominginJune.Theyrangefrom2to5feettallwith4to6inchflowersinbrightreds,
yellowsandorangeaswellasdelicateshadesofpink,lavenderandcreamywhite.Therearethree
subdivisions:OneincludeshybridswithuprightflowersAnotherincludesoutwardfacingflowers.The
naturalseasonforfloweringofAsiaticliliesislatespringandearlysummer.Orientalliliesbloom
naturallyinlatesummer.Asiaticlilybulbscanbestoredincoolersforforcingvirtuallyyearroundby
freezingthebulbs.
