First of all we should protect the environment from
pollution: air, land, light, noise, thermal, visual, water. In
my opinion we should keep our environment clean
properly, spread the environmental message and influence
others. We can go a step further by spreading the
environmental message and educating family members,
friends, classmates or colleagues.

As a marine engineering student, and especially as a
seafarer, it is already practiced in our school to protect the
environment so that when we go onboard the ship and
travel across the seas, we're already responsible for
protecting our environment and most especially the marine
environment. We segregate wastes carefully and dispose it
when we arrive in port specifically plastic, non-incinerable
wastes like bottles, cans, and metallic materials. We
incinerate papers and oily rags onboard. And that's we how
protect and care for our environment.

I am an advocate of saving our mother nature. I do simple
things to save her such as the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse and
Recycle and also, educating small kids about our
environment, the kids are the hope of tomorrow and
environmental knowledge is an important thing that we
should instill in them so that in the near future they will be
the ones to teach the next generations. As early as now we
should make a move on saving our Mother because the
danger is not what man do to nature but what nature can
do to man.

Volunteerism is the act in which you are
helping someone or anyone without the
instruction of others. I can show a simple
act of volunteerism by helping a old
woman cross the street.
Picking up garbage and putting them in the
garbage bin are the simplest thing I can do
for the environment. One thing I wish to do
is to stop the people abusing nature.

Volunteerism is your willingness to serve
without expecting something in return;
giving your full dedication with a passion in
your heart. By taking the initiative to lead
my group, I exhibit volunteerism.
I also joined the environmental club in our
school and participated in different
activities like tree planting and cleanup
drive. I hope to preserve nature as it is now
for a longer time for the next the
generations to witness its beauty.

Based on my learning, volunteerism is an
act where you help others without the
pamilit of others and also taking the risk
of the challenge in volunteering. I have
shown volunteerism by throwing the
garbage of others into the trash can, giving
old clothes to the home of the aged,
typhoon victims, and prisoners. And also
helping others by carrying their things so
that it will not be hard for them if it is
heavy.

The things Ive done as far as the
environment is concerned are planting
trees, disposing my garbage properly, and
cleaning the place with the broomstick. I
wish that nature will be as clean as when
God created it, telling all the people to
dispose their garbage everywhere
especially in bodies of water. And also to
stop illegal loggings, close factories that
produce black smokes, greenhouse gases,
and CFC that destroy the ozone layer.
