Students will know and understand how music is
incorporated in the career world. Students will understand
what perspective jobs are available and what they need to
do to acquire them. Students will formulate their own
opinions and then share them to promote controlled group
think.
I will use my hook and story board to introduce this topic
to the students. Usually music content is taught in the
classroom with a piano and music, but these students will
experiencing music in a non-performance setting that can
help give them vision for a future in a music career. This
change of setting and medium should keep students
engaged, since it's in their usual niche. Students will
explore the different facets of this webquest and do a
pre/post paragraph for analysis and growth tracking. This
activity will stretch over 2 classes. After the completion
each class students will be expected to fill out an exit ticket
sharing one new thing they've learned.

Assessment &
Evaluation

Students will write up a pre- and post paragraph to project


and reflect their opinions about a lifestyle with a musical
careers. Students will have expectations and assignments
to turn in periodically throughout the webquest to make
sure they're following along and being producitve. Also at
the end of each lesson in this unit students will fill out exit
slips to demonstrate new learned knowledge.

Materials & Resources

For this activity students will need:


Lined paper
pencils
computer

Management

Students will be placed strategically in groups to insure


the most quiet work environment. There will also be
limited talking for only group work portions. Students will
also have incentives for good behavior.

Students will know and understand how music is


incorporated in the career world and their lives. Students
will understand what perspective jobs are available and
what they need to do to acquire them. Students will create
their own compositions to demonstrate the use of music in
their careers.
Students will have previously used the music interface for
this lesson. Students will be given a word bank of rhythms
and pitches that they can plug into a music template for
their compositions.
Students will be expected to complete this project for full
credit. They will be supported by music note banks and a
pre-made electronic template. Students are to work alone.
At the end of the class students should be able to finish
and present their completed work. Students will send their
sound files to the teacher email.

WebQuest
Finish their group PowerPoints if not previously
completed
Perform their Projects according to the expectations on
the webquest and ruibrics given by teacher
Evaluate their performance and peer review their groups
Students will know and understand how music is

will understand what perspective jobs are available and
what they need to do to acquire them. Students will create
their own group projects to perform and share knowledge
with the class. Students will evaluate themselves as well as
their peers.
Students will complete PowerPoint projects
Students will present project including their wordle, and
compositions
Students will listen and take notes for other groups
students will evaluate their performance and their peer
performances.
Students will be expected to complete this project for full
credit. They will be supported by music note banks and a
pre-made electronic template. Students are to work alone.
