LANGUAGE IN MALAYSIA

1. As the second language
• Second language is not a native
language of a country, but it is a
language used for certain purposes
and by certain people within the
country.
• English language is being used in
certain interviews.
• In the urban areas, many signs and
advertisements are in English.
 2. Mother tongue
• This is usually the native
language of the child’s parents.
• It is most often spoken
language in the child’s home.
• Some families especially those
from middle-class homes, do
not know their mother tongue
because English is spoken
more than mother tongue.
 3. Educational field
• Science and Mathematics in English.
• English is being taught in both the primary
and secondary schools in Malaysia.
• English language as a medium of instruction
in university.

4. Bussiness
• English is the main language of
commerce.
• Import and export activities.
