Faith and Life (45)
To See Hope When All Seems Lost

Psalms 77:7-12,19-20
To see hope when all seems lost.
No matter the difficulties ahead, one only needs
to strengthen one’s faith and not shrink back
nor be fearful, but be brave in moving forwards…

…for ahead will be a realm full of hope and light.
Originally, the path of life would be a winding
road – this is a fact that brooks no argument.
A person’s greatness does not come about
because he has performed some
great undertaking, but comes about
because he knows how to turn a corner
on the winding path of life.
Land oneself in a dead angle (verses 6-9)

…my soul refused to be comforted.
…I complained, and my spirit was
overwhelmed.
…mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I
cannot speak.

self-doubt, and self-denial.

who has cancer
Worries about losing
one’s popularity.
Every person will certainly encounter
a dead angle in life,
and thus will need to learn how to turn a corner.
「山不转,路转;路不转,人转;
If the mountain does not turn, the path turns;
if the path does not turn, man turns; if man
wants to turn, the heart must first turn.
When we fall into a dead angle in life,
we must not persist in resentment and self -pity,
but instead know that the only way out
is to turn a corner.
Seek for laws that will never change (10-18)
In verses 1-9, the psalmist was looking at his
own experience of burdensome depression…
But from verse 10 onwards, the psalmist
turns toward God – he turns from looking
at himself to looking towards God.
Turning a corner in life can allow a person
to walk out from the valley of the shadow
of death, and enter the bright path of life.
Do not let your thinking dwell on the negative,
nor let your experiences remain in
burdensome depression; learn to turn around,
and have a fresh start.
He is the Lord who created the Heaven
and the Earth, and also the Lord who controls
the history of man.
By having this unchanging God,
in such a changing, inconsistent environment,
then only would life be more steady
and peaceful.

In an environment that changes irregularly,
God is the anchor for our souls.
The faith to see through our surroundings (19)
Thy way is in the sea,
and thy path in the
great waters,
and thy foots
step are not known.
At that time, the Israelites came
to the Red Sea.
…stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord,
which he will shew to you to day.
Faith allows you to see the works of the Lord,
and also allows you to see through your
surroundings and find a way out.
There are people who see opportunity even
in adversity, but there are also those who fail
even in favourable circumstances.
…all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose.

Even in the moments of life where one sees
hope when all had seemed lost, one still
needs the eyes of faith to see through one’s
surroundings and see the workings of God.
Becoming others’ blessing (20)
God used Moses and Aaron.
When your life has turned a corner,
you will be qualified to become a guide in
the lives of others. You can use your
past experiences to help others, leading them
to walk out of their dead angle in life.
2 Corinthians 1:4
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we
may be able to comfort them which are in any
trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are
comforted of God.
In this chaotic and unstable environment,
go and search for the never-changing God…
…then trust God and see through your
surroundings – and see God’s own works.

If you were to take this viewpoint,
your life will certainly turn a corner.
