Interview with teachers By: Michelle Gudis

Q: Where were you before Yavneh?

A: Schneck: Ramaz , Zak: Working in a hospital as a genetic counselor.

Q: What made you become a teacher?

A: Schneck: I was involved in teaching or tutoring on some level since high


school. I enjoy giving children the opportunity to learn more about themselves
and the world.

Zak: love working with the students and expanding their knowledge of
science

Q What is your funniest memory while teaching here?

A: Schneck: My funniest memories are the very creative vocabulary


sentences that I receive on quizzes. I always look forward to reading them!

Zak: last year while substituting, a student "accidentally" threw a snow ball at
me

Q: What do you think of Yavneh so far?

A: Schneck: The faculty is very friendly and really cares about the children.

Zak: Nice, warm environment to work in

5. What is your favorite dessert?

A: Schneck: ice cream- especially Ben and Jerry's

Zak: anything chocolate

6. What do you teach?

A: Schneck: Middle school English

Zak: 6th grade science

Q: What do you think of Yavneh students?

A: Schneck: The students are serious about learning.

Zak: great kids

Q: Do you think you relate well with the children?

A: Schneck: Yes.

Zak: I Hope I do, I enjoy showing them videos of what we are learning to let
them relax a bit in class while continuing to build on their knowledge of
science.

9. Q: Describe yourself as a teacher?

A: Schneck: I hope that class is always challenging and fun for each student!

Zak: Student oriented, not curriculum oriented. Meaning if there is something


the students will enjoy learning more or need more time focusing on then I
will try to a lot class time for that rather than making sure we are covering all
the information in the curriculum without the students understanding.

10. Q: Is there anything you want us to know about you?

A: Schneck: I want to get to know all of the middle school students and am
always happy to speak with you. Please don't hesitate to come talk to me.

Zak: hmmm let the 6th graders tell you what they learn about me at the end of
this year :)
