Tobacco Usage
• In FY2010 Florida spent $67.7 million on tobacco prevention, which is 32.1% of the CDC
Annual Spending Target.1
• The CDC estimates that 46.6% of adult smokers in Florida tried to quit smoking in 2008.2
• Florida received $1.54 billion in tobacco settlement payments and taxes in FY2010.3

Excise Tax: There will be a tax of $1.34 per pack on cigarettes as of July 1st, 2009. The tax on
all other tobacco products except cigars is 85% of the wholesale price.10
• Establishments are required to post signs stating that sales to minors are prohibited.
• Products must be under supervision of sales clerks or in line of sight of the sales clerks.
