Brochure/Textbook Insert Assignment:

What our text book does not tell us about the Trail of Tears . . .

Our textbook only devotes a small section to the “Trail of Tears” that was a result
of Jackson’s Indian Removal Policies. Your assignment is to design a
brochure/text book insert that addresses the topic above. The goal is to produce
a brief overview of the Trail of Tears. Be sure to include the following:

• 1 paragraph (5-7 sentence) summary 10 points

• Timeline of significant events 10 points
• 2 images (can be art work) 10 points
• 2 primary sources (used as quotes) 10 points
• 1 map-displaying significant information about the trail 10 point
• use of color and creativity 5 points

Guidelines:

• you may work with ONE partner of your choice.

• Everyone will be responsible for creating a timeline on from the movie “We
Shall Remain”. You may choose to include those recorded events in your
brocure/insert.
• Other than video day, you will be completing your research on your own
time.
• This assignment will count as your test grade for the unit.
• Any information taken from a source other than your own beautiful mind
must be sourced (include a MLA bibliography somewhere!)
