This lecture deals with serviceability related to deformations in timber structures. The formal calculation method proposed in EC5 is presented and a design example for the serviceability limit state concludes the lecture. Deflections can be subdivided into one part 8J due to permanent loads immediately after loading and one part deg2 which is variable during the lifetime of the structure.
