COMPETENCE STANDARD : ENGLISH COMMUNICATION AT
ELEMENTARY LEVEL
BASIC COMPETENCE : To note the simple messages in direct interaction
and throughout the equipment.
INDICATOR : To note the received messages by phone correctly.
TIME ALLOCATION : 3 X 45 minutes
I. OBJECTIVE : At the end of the activities, the students are able to
note the received messages by phone correctly.
II. TEACHING MATERIAL :

→ Preliminary conversation
- What do you say when you make the phone call?
- What do you usually say when you answer the
phone call?
- What do you say when the person you are calling is
not at home?

* Some expression often used on telephone

 Just a moment please, I’ll get him/her.
 Just a moment please, and I’ll put you through.
 I’m sorry, but she is on another line right now.

Example of telephone conversation:


Situation: Ella is calling her friend Ruri, but Ruri is not at home.
Ella : Hello, can I talk to Ruri please?
Ruri’s sister : Oh! Ruri isn’t home right now, who’s calling please?
Ella : This is Ella, her classmate.
Ruri’s sister : Would you like to leave a message?
Ella : Yes, please tell Ruri to call me as soon as possible. My number
is 230-574.
Ruri’s sister : Is that all?
Ella : Yes, thenk you.
Ruri’s sister : You’re welcome.

• Teacher give task to do at home
