Editing HD image sequences:

AFTER EFFECTS COMPOSITION SETTINGS

After Effects is a good tool for framing and resizing image sequences.

NOTE: If your sequence contains any missing numbers, I recommend that

you rename the sequence using a method such as ‘Batch Re-name’ in
Adobe Bridge before importing to AE.

First select composition > New composition

...or click on this icon at the bottom of the project pane.

This represents your frame rate

NOTE: Do not select 29.97 as this is an American setting

Unlike SD & some HD settings, 720p uses

square pixels. This means that what you see on
the computer screen has the same
ratio as it will appear on a TV, projector etc.

After Effects will default to 30 second Compositions

if you need to change this later on, select
Composition > Composition Settings

When importing an image

sequence, select ‘JPEG Sequence’ if
you would like After Effects treat
them like ONE file.

Now check how After Effects is interpreting your footage...

Right click on it in the PROJECT window and select

INTERPRET FOOTAGE > MAIN...

in the Project Pane...

Or select this icon...

Now specify your frame rate.

NOTE: After Effects will defalt to 30fps
