Mathematics

Note: There are no further opportunities to sit the legacy Further Pure Mathematics units. Legacy Further Pure Mathematics
units can still be used to cash-in, but these cannot be mixed with new Further Pure units in a single cash-in. Although there
have been content changes in the Decision Mathematics units, they have retained the same unit codes and can be used in
cash-ins as before – new and legacy Decision Mathematics units can be mixed in a single cash-in. All Decision Mathematics
units are examined on the new content introduced in January 2009. All other units remain unchanged.

Spanish
Notes: Centres that require a visiting examiner for unit 6SP01 option B and unit 6SP03 option B must have notified Edexcel
by the date specified in the Key Dates section of this Information Manual and in the Notes section of the GCE June timetable.
Instructions on how to request a visiting examiner are available on the Spanish subject page of the Edexcel website. A
visiting examiner is only available to centres with enough candidates for the equivalent of at least 10 tests (morning or
afternoon of examining). No exceptions can be made to this rule. Centres should note that an entry for unit 6SP01 option B
and unit 6SP03 option B does not automatically entitle the centre to a visiting examiner. A request must be made via the
established procedure, by the deadline stated, for the centre to be eligible for a visiting examiner.

In accordance with Edexcel’s Safeguarding Children Policy, it is the centre’s duty to provide a responsible adult to chaperone
the visiting examiner for the duration of the oral examination. If a responsible adult is not available, the oral examination
cannot take place. Please refer to the Edexcel website for access to the full Safeguarding Children Policy.

Teachers conducting the oral tests must be fully conversant with the current issue of the Edexcel GCE Oral Handbook of
Instructions for Centres.

Candidates at centres where a language specialist is not available to conduct the oral assessment for 6SP01 option A and
6SP03 option A, or who do not meet the requirements to enter for 6SP01 option B and 6SP03 option B may be required to
travel to London for assessment via London Centre Orals. Instructions on how to apply for London Centre Orals are available
